iRide Summer Camp Success

In the spirit of this summer’s 2016 Olympic and Para-Olympic competitions in Rio de Jenairo, Cycling BC’s iRide program successfully ran its first summer camp, combining BMX, mountain bike, and track cycling for a full-day combination camp in partnership with Climb Base 5 climbing gym in Coquitlam.  Participants enjoyed 5 mornings of bike riding, including 2 velodrome sessions and 2 sessions at the BMX & Mountain Bike skills park in Burnaby, before climbing to their hearts content in the afternoon with Climb Base 5’s staff in Coquitlam.

iRide Coordinator, Ben Chaddock reports:

What a great week! It was the first time that I have been able to run this style of camp and the participants really enjoyed it.  At our first track session at the Burnaby Velodrome on Tuesday, the riders had the great opportunity to practice their skills and share the track with Para-cycling World Champion and upcoming Paralympian Tristen Chernove of Cranbrook, British Columbia.  I look forward to holding more camps of this nature in the future and build on this success.
