#ThanksCoach: Assaf Yogev fuels Pender Racing team’s passion for cycling

National Coaches Week is a week to celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. This week is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach.

Over the last few weeks, we asked you to submit profiles of your coaches, letting us know how they inspire you. We’re sharing those stories throughout the week.

David Johnson of the Pender Racing team wrote in to tell us how his coach Assaf Yogev has inspired him to be his very best on the bike.

I started being coached by Assaf shortly after I joined the Pender Cycling team. His commitment to making me the best cyclist I can be was shown right from the start. Assaf has woken up extremely early to get moto-pacing sessions in before I get to work, and built a program that builds on my strengths and pushes out my weaknesses. His calm, easy demeanor has been a huge asset to me – especially pre-race. His vast knowledge of environmental physiology is a perfect fit for me as I tend to geek out about how you can stretch you body to perform at its best. Assaf, thank you so much for 2016, and I look forward to a speedy 2017.

With events held across the country to celebrate coaching, National Coaches Week provides coaches with the recognition they deserve for the time they devote to ensuring Canadians live an active, healthy lifestyle.
