PMBIA 1 instructors are encouraged to seek mentorship opportunities in their community by attending NCCP modules or other events (view calendar). In addition, if there is a professional development opportunity in your community that we can share with others, please let us know.
PMBIA-certified instructors are encouraged to log their credentials in the Coaches Association of Canada (CAC) LOCKER system. The PMBIA Level 1 course is recognized and provides 3 NCCP maintenance of certification credits. Although most helpful for leaders who already hold NCCP certification, coaches in-training can record their PMBIA participation for future reference. Get started by creating a LOCKER account at thelocker.coach.ca, then contact Cycling BC with proof of certification.
If you are interested in further coach training, consider attending the NCCP Club Theory B module to pursue NCCP certification and fulfill the role of Club Head Coach (GREEN) at a Cycling BC club. This module is facilitated online and helps you craft an annual plan for athletes participating in mass-start or competitive events.
All Cycling BC members may apply to access Coach Development grants ($250) and cover the cost of NCCP modules. In addition, once NCCP-certified (GREEN), applicants may apply grant funding to non-NCCP professional development opportunities like PMBIA 1 or 2 modules. Learn more about our grants here.
Cycling BC encourages all club assistant coaches supporting mountain bike athletes to pursue PMBIA Level 1 certification.
Cycling BC Club Assistant Coaches (YELLOW) who leverage our PMBIA partnership and bypass one NCCP outdoor module (Basic Skills or Club Skills Mtn. Bike) must maintain their PMBIA Level 1 certification. Complete the PMBIA Level 1 re-certification eLearning every 3 years to maintain your YELLOW certificate. Cycling BC encourages you to maintain your PMBIA annual membership through this time period, supporting PMBIA strategic goals and accessing their diversified membership benefits.
