SUMMARY:The Capilano Volkswagen Cypress Challenge Presented by Glotman Simpson Cycling
DESCRIPTION:The Capilano Volkswagen Cypress Challenge\npresented by Glotman Simpson Cycling\nSUPPORTING PANCREATIC CANCER RESEARCH AND CARE AT BC CANCER\n\nSUNDAY\, JULY 30\, 2023\nSince 2008\, riders have pushed themselves to raise over $4 million toward leading pancreatic cancer research at BC Cancer. They’ve been making the climb for 15 years to help improve outcomes for the more than 800 people per year diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. \nMaking the climb this year means doubling your impact! The funds we raise are matched by the generosity of the Hager family’s $5 million gift\, the largest gift in the history of the province to Pancreatic Cancer Research. \nStarting at Mulgrave School and finishing at Hollyburn Nordic Area\, the Capilano Volkswagen Cypress Challenge presented by Glotman•Simpson is a 12km ride up Cypress Mountain in support of pancreatic cancer research at BC Cancer. Over 500 riders make the climb each year to help change the cancer story for patients across B.C. \n

Tragically\, Kris’s untimely passing on January 18\, 2023\, was sudden and unexpected\, a result of advanced coronary artery disease. Despite being an elite athlete\, he faced an invisible enemy with no warning signs. The mission is to ensure that Kris’s legacy shines on\, raising awareness about heart disease and reminding everyone that it can affect anyone\, regardless of their fitness level. \nThis event has a dual purpose: fostering community ties via cycling and amplifying the significance of heart health care in Northern BC. \nPlease consider donating to the Kris Yip Memorial Fund through the Prince George Community Foundation.

SUMMARY:Smith Creek Chainless Race
DESCRIPTION:Smith Creek Chainless Race is a charity event in support of Adaptive Adventures.  \nThe Smith Creek Chainless Race is a downhill mountain bike race aimed at a stress-free environment with max fun potential! Participants will pedal to the top of the Smith Creek Trail Network in West Kelowna\, BC\, where the chain on their bike will be removed. They will then race back down the designated trail to the bottom while trying to set the fastest time they can. \nOnly the downhill portion is timed. \nAbout the fundraiser:\nAdaptive Adventures has been something I’ve seen around the valley for some time now. I have friends who have been out on some adventures with them and they provide such an incredible service for a community that typically has so many barriers in front of them. The team at Adaptive Adventures do an incredible job of removing these barriers with the specialized adaptive equipment the have. \n
