Despite being an elite athlete\, he faced an invisible enemy with no warning signs. The mission is to ensure that Kris’s legacy shines on\, raising awareness about heart disease and reminding everyone that it can affect anyone\, regardless of their fitness level. \nThis event has a dual purpose: fostering community ties via cycling and amplifying the significance of heart health care in Northern BC. \nPlease consider donating to the Kris Yip Memorial Fund through the Prince George Community Foundation.

The first group will ride 143km in recognition of the 143 days that Terry ran a full marathon before being forced to stop when his cancer returned. We will also offer a shorter course of 72km. \nNote this is an unsupported ride\, go at your own pace\, with route maps supplied. We’ll begin at the Trek Bicycle Store in Vic West\, and finish at the Terry Fox Memorial on Dallas Road (at Mile Zero). \nOur fundraising goal also reflects the number 143\, with a goal of $14\,300.00. DESCRIPTION:Rotary Ride for Hearing\nJuly 14th\, 2024\nROTARY CLUB OF VANCOUVER HEARING FOUNDATION \nOur action-packed annual biking event has raised over $3.9 million for the research\, treatment\, and care of hearing disorders since it first began in 1985. This year’s Ride for Hearing event will be held July 14\, 2024 and includes a Main Ride Event of approximately 105 kilometres and a Family Ride Event. Set your wheels in motion for a great cause by registering individually\, joining a team\, or sponsoring a rider today. \nThe Rotary Ride will commence at Spanish Banks West\nJoin us for the 2024 Rotary Ride for Hearing and help raise funds for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in BC. \nThe route: \nThis year\, our ride will be a circular route\, taking participants throughout Vancouver\, Richmond\, and Steveston. \nWe will commence our ride at Spanish Banks West and travel east to Burrard Bridge. The route takes cyclists around Stanley Park\, back to Spanish Banks and out towards UBC. Then cyclists\, after crossing the Fraser River on the North Arm Bridge Bikeway\, will pedal through Richmond on bike routes to Steveston\, before returning to Vancouver and to the Spanish Banks West Finish Line. \nThe route will be approximately 105 km\, with checkpoints at Spanish Banks East Beach-house\, Cambie St crossing over the Fraser and Sanctuary Café in Steveston. DESCRIPTION:Smith Creek Chainless Race is a charity event in support of Adaptive Adventures.  \nThe Smith Creek Chainless Race is a downhill mountain bike race aimed at a stress-free environment with max fun potential! Participants will pedal to the top of the Smith Creek Trail Network in West Kelowna\, BC\, where the chain on their bike will be removed. They will then race back down the designated trail to the bottom while trying to set the fastest time they can. \nOnly the downhill portion is timed. \nAbout the fundraiser:\nAdaptive Adventures has been something I’ve seen around the valley for some time now. I have friends who have been out on some adventures with them and they provide such an incredible service for a community that typically has so many barriers in front of them. The team at Adaptive Adventures do an incredible job of removing these barriers with the specialized adaptive equipment the have. \n
