SUMMARY:Simbi Foundation Virtual Cycling Event
DESCRIPTION:On August 29th\, we are hosting a virtual cycling marathon in which we will collectively ride 6000 miles to enhance access to education and support an additional 6000 learners in our partnered communities in Bidibidi refugee settlement in Uganda. Our goal is to fundraise $14\,000 to complete the next BrightBox\, a solar-powered classroom that provides access to literacy and education resources for remote and refugee learners\, helping them to reach their full potential! \nWe’re hoping to assemble a virtual team of at least 120 riders\, and we’d love to invite all of the riders at Cycling BC to road bike\, mountain bike\, or spin 50 miles with us on August 29th\, fundraise\, and create a positive impact for Bidibidi’s refugee students. \nIf you are interested in joining 6000 Miles for 6000 Learners click here!

SUMMARY:BIKEnnale - The Vancouver Biennale Cycle Tour
DESCRIPTION:  \nFeeling cooped up? Wanting to get some fresh air? The Vancouver Biennale invites you to join us (while keeping that 2-metre gap) in exploring the amazing public artworks that make up our Open Air Museum… by bike or foot! The Vancouver BIKEnnale/WALKnnale 2020 is a family-friendly\, all-ages\, cycle and walking based event that will take you on an adventure through 13+ of Lower Mainland’s most iconic art instillations turned landmarks\, all thanks to the Vancouver Biennale. The Vancouver Biennale is a non-profit charitable organization that exhibits great art in public space\, creating a catalyst for learning\, community engagement\, dialogue\, and social action. So let US guide YOU! By registering and choosing one of our four\, easy-to-navigate virtual routes\, allowing you and yours to wind through Lower Mainland’s dynamic cityscape and multicultural hubs while actively engaging with your city.   \nRegister here: https://www.vancouverbiennale.com/event/tour-de-biennale/  \nDuring the BIKEnnale/WALKnnale 2020 event\, make sure to stop at each route’s highlighted public-art installations and enjoy the activation pop-ups with exclusive giveaways and Biennale education interactive based programming\, giving you a better understanding of why and how each piece was made.  \nDon’t forget to explore our other highlighted points of interest (POI) along each route\, including historical facts surrounding the very architecture and landscapes you’ll be exploring!   \nOnly those who register will be given an all-access\, backstage pass to the Vancouver Biennale upcoming coming public-art installations for 2020.  \nBy collecting stamps at each designated stop\, you will be entered to win our raffle surprise. And stay apart while coming together through active transport and public art exploration in your communities.   \nIf you want to get involved with this year’s BIKEnnale 2020\, please contact us at bikennale@vancouverbikennale.com     \n  \n  \nA note on public safety during this time of the COVID-19 outbreak:  Now is a time more than ever that we must come together\, in any way we can. The BIKEnnale and associated partners allow for this in a safe and healthy way. As of now\, we encourage biking to visit our public–art installations as a social distancing activity\, either individually or with those few whom you are already self-isolating with (family members\, roommates).  Currently this is not suggested as a group activity. We are closely following the suggestions put in place by the BC Centre for Disease Control and the Government of Canada’s community-based measures to  mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Canada. We urge individuals planning to take part in our virtually guided bike tours to take the necessary precautions before\, during\, and after your ride. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19\,  please refrain from participating in any of our outdoor–based activities during that time. Please participate responsibly.

SUMMARY:Ride for Clean Energy
DESCRIPTION:***REGISTER NOW*** \nTHE RIDE \nThe Ride For Clean Energy is an annual fundraising bike ride that raises money to benefit the Tyler Lewis Clean Energy Research Foundation – a non-profit organization that awards a yearly $10\,000 grant to a chosen PhD/graduate project researching in the field of renewable and sustainable energy. Each rider participating in the ride must raise a minimum of $250\, all of which will be donated to the foundation. The cost to register for the ride is $50\, which goes towards a jersey for first time riders\, or a cap for returning riders\, food/beverages\, insurance\, and rider support. \nThe ride is an important event for the Tyler Lewis Clean Energy Research Foundation\, as it helps ensure the foundation will be able to continue awarding yearly grants to innovative clean energy researchers. However\, not only is the ride important for helping further sustainable energy research\, it’s a fun way to enjoy the environment that the foundation is fighting to preserve. So we encourage riders of all skill level to sign up and be a part of a growing community of people who care about the future of our planet. \n  \n\nTHE ROUTE \nThere are two courses for The Ride For Clean Energy\, the classic and the challenge. Bothe routes depart from Maple Ridge and head out towards Langley and loop back to the start location. The difference between the two courses\, however\, is on the challenge ride there is an extra 17km of riding and approximately an extra 100m of ascent.  Both routes will be provided with the same support from our volunteers\, however we recommend that only stronger riders\, who are comfortable keeping an average pace of 28km/h\, register for the challenge ride.

Positive Spin strives to do all of these things while creating a challenging day of cycling and bringing awareness to mental health. We want to promote cycling\, provide a challenge\, and showcase the mental health benefits associated to the sport. We want to celebrate cycling with an unforgettable ride. We want to educate by showing people the benefits of cycling and taking the stigma out of mental health issues. We want to connect people over a challenging and beautiful cycling route. \nYou’re invited to join us and your fellow cyclists for a great day on two-wheels exploring the Chilliwack area. \nFor more information\, go to: http://www.positivespincycle.com/ \n  \n

SUMMARY:Test of Humanity
DESCRIPTION:***Register Now***\nWhy the Race?\n100% of the profit earned from the Test of Humanity race is used to support Canadian Humanitarian and their projects in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is a country that UNICEF has reported to be home to 6 million orphans\, which is 33% more than the entire population of BC. In addition\, nearly 60% of the 84 million people in Ethiopia are illiterate. Ethiopia is a country that has been ravaged by war\, drought\, dysentery\, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases\, and one of the consequences of this is a country now plagued by poverty. Canadian Humanitarian believes that by providing individuals with literacy and vocational skills it will also provide them with the tools to break the cycle of poverty\, and by doing so they will be able to shape their own lives in a positive way. By riding in the Test of Humanity and supporting these programs you will become an integral part of helping these children build their lives. \n  \nCourse & Race Info: http://www.testofhumanity.com/course-and-race-info/ \n  \n width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"> \n
