SUMMARY:CSI Pacific Athlete ID and Development Camp
DESCRIPTION:The mission of the Cycling Athlete Development Camps is to provide an environment of support to athletes who\, at an early age\, show signs of interest and commitment to their future success in cycling. The camp curriculum has been developed to maximize learning opportunities for all participants\, as well as challenge each athlete to develop and implement new technical\, tactical\, physical and mental skills through the various seminars\, training talks\, and racing opportunities offered throughout the week. \nReceiving daily instruction from some of Western Canada’s finest Cycling coaches\, the camps provide the necessary framework to improve the athlete’s skillset\, thus progressing their individual cycling development. Each athlete will receive an individual athlete report card following their participation in the camp assessing their cycling skills\, tactical competency\, and overall competition performance. \nThe camp is being offered in partnership with the Greater Victoria Velodrome Association (GVVA). Primary camp activities will take place at the Westshore Velodrome – 1767 Island Highway\, Victoria (Colwood). \nFor more information and to register click here. \nTarget Athlete Audience:\nAthletes born in 1998-2003. (Eligible for U15\, U17\, or U19 competition in 2016). \nFor 2016 the focus of the Cycling Athlete Development Camps will be on Track Cycling.\nAge eligible athletes who are currently racing at the Provincial\, and/or National level in Road\, Track\, CX\, MTB or BMX are invited to apply. Athletes will be selected to participate based on previous racing results\, RBC Training Ground and/or PODIUM SEARCH results\, or club/PSO coach recommendations. \nAthletes do not require track cycling experience\, however a high level of fitness and some basic cycling racing competence is encouraged*. (*A coach reference confirming basic cycling competency is required for 1st year cycling athletes). \nAll athletes require a Cycling BC license to participate in the camp. \nAll athletes require a Road\, Cyclocross\, or Mountain Bike with slicks for the camp.

Oh\, and maybe a few hike-a-bike sections to keep it legit. \nFeaturing: Bear Mountain. The Highlands. Hartland Mountain Bike Park. Camosun College. Francis King & Thetis Lake Regional Parks. Private property that owners are opening up for this one day. Short and long course options. \nWave starts. Chip timing. Fab food with yummy home-baked goodies. And a few other surprises.\nThis event is a fund raiser for the Tripleshot Cycling Club Youth Team and will support quality year-round coaching for the youth team — age 11-17 — who train hard and love to compete in cross\, road\, track and mountain bike at the local\, provincial\, national and international level. A portion of the funds raised will also go to support the South Vancouver Island Nature Trails Society and their mission of connecting trail systems. \nThis event is supported by the Tripleshot Cycling Club. DESCRIPTION:Part of the 2016 BC Premier Cyclocross Series. \nWhy cyclocross racing? Plain and simple: it’s a ton of fun! Races are short – less than an hour – with riders navigating sometimes muddy terrain\, slippery off-camber grass sections\, jumping barriers and pushing themselves just hard enough to keep a smile on their face. If not racing Pro category\, riders can compete on any bike they might have in their shed – CX bike\, mountain bike\, fat bike or even that $300 Frankenbike – it doesn’t matter. Bring it on! \nDid we mention fun? Cyclocross races thrive on inclement weather conditions; the wetter\, the muddier\, the better! And talk about spectator-friendly\, you can easily watch most of the race from one vantage point thanks to the tight course layout and varying terrain. With various “hand-ups”\, on course shenanigans\, cheering or heckling and loads of cow bell\, you can’t help but get swept up in the cyclocross experience!
