SUMMARY:Forbidden Gravel Experience (New Date!)
DESCRIPTION:From the organizer: \n**FORBIDDEN GRAVEL ON SEPT 7 POSTPONED** NEW DATE SCHEDULED FOR SEPT 21 *** \nAfter doing another important risk assessment over the past few days\, we have decided to postpone the Forbidden Gravel in Cumberland event to later this month. (New Date to be officially announced in next 48hrs) \nDue to the worsening fire risk\, we have been recently informed by one of the land owners that we are not permitted to have motorized vehicles access certain areas of the course\, which are critical to our safety emergency first response and communication plan. \nYour safety is our number one priority and we need to be certain that we have a robust safety plan to ensure the well-being of attendees and allow for effective management of any incidents or emergencies that may occur. \nWe also are mindful that the conditions are getting dryer and the weather forecast remains hot and dry for the remainder of this week. Recently some new fires popped up nearby in Campbell River and we expect the situation to continue to deteriorate until some much needed rainfall arrives\, hopefully later this month. \nRest assured that we are doing our utmost to keep the event alive and to also extend the distances for the Intermedio and Esperto so that you are getting more bang for your buck. \nWe appreciate your understanding on this matter. It has been a challenging summer with record breaking temperatures and lack of rain. \nFor any questions\, please email us at info@panachecyclingsports.com. \nLet’s keep Gravel Cycling alive! \n\nThe 2025 TREK BC Gravel Series presented by Bluebird Self Storage features 4 epic events on Vancouver Island that take participants to the most challenging yet beautiful gravel routes in Campbell River\, Duncan\, Nanaimo\, and Comox Valley. Hosted by Mosaic Forest Management\, each event features an epic day of racing\, with distance options for people of all ages and abilities. For those not wanting to race\, the 2025 TREK BC Gravel Series invites those who are simply looking for a challenge and to share their experiences with colleagues\, friends\, and family. \nEmbarking on a TREK BC Gravel Series event is no small feat; it’s a test of endurance\, strength\, and mental fortitude. The rugged terrain and unpredictable conditions push you to your limits\, demanding every ounce of determination and resilience. Yet\, amidst the challenge lies an unparalleled reward: the breathtaking beauty of nature unfolding around you. Each grueling climb and exhilarating descent brings you closer to stunning vistas\, serene forests\, and open skies. It’s in these moments of struggle and triumph that you discover your true potential\, fueled by the awe-inspiring landscapes that remind you why you ride. Embrace the challenge\, for it is through these trials that you find not only the beauty of the world but also the strength within yourself. \nVisit event website: https://www.bcgravelseries.com/

Oh\, and maybe a few hike-a-bike sections to keep it legit. \nFeaturing: The Highlands. Hartland Mountain Bike Park. Vancouver Island Tech Park. Francis King & Thetis Lake Regional Parks. Private property that owners are opening up for this one day. \nWorried about how much energy you’ll expend? We’ll keep you fuelled along the route! And when you’re done\, there will be food and bevvy to help you recharge! \nThis event is a fundraiser for the Tripleshot Cycling Club youth cycling program and will support the development of year-round training for 11-18 year olds who train hard and love to compete in cross\, road\, track and mountain bike at local\, provincial\, national and international levels. Since 2016\, thanks to the generous donations of the participants\, we have been able to donate $16\,500 of the funds raised to support the South Vancouver Island Nature Trail Society and the South Island Mountain Bike Society\, two hard-working not-for-profits that work to connect and build trail systems for all to enjoy. \nThank you to those who have donated to the Lindsay Burgess Legacy Fund to honour the seven-time Tripleshot CrossFondo rider. A new fund has been set up through the Victoria Foundation that will assist women so they can offer mentorship and coaching to young riders as Lindsay did. Please visit and share this link. \nWe respectfully enjoy\, as visitors\, the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) and lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees) peoples of the Coast Salish Nation. We thank our hosts and honour their welcome and graciousness to those who enjoy the beauty of their land. \nView full event details at https://tripleshotcrossfondo.ca/ \n
