SUMMARY:Kids 2 Camp Gran Fondo
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Homewood are planning to ride the 280 kilometer route from Victoria\, BC to Camp Homewood on Quadra Island in one day. (Yes! ONE DAY!). Each year\, thanks to the generosity of people like you\, we have exceeded our fundraising goals! This means that hundreds of children have already been able to attend camp since this initiative started just 4 years ago who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. That’s amazing! \nThis year’s fundraising ride has a dual purpose: to raise funds to help underprivileged kids experience a life-changing week at Camp Homewood\, and to provide bursary funds to assist some of our volunteer leaders to pay for tuition this fall. We all know that providing an exceptional camp experience for children depends on attracting a hard working\, caring group of volunteers! \nVisit our website for more information: https://camphomewood.com/donate/kids-2-camp-fondo/

SUMMARY:Kris Yip Memorial Fondo
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThe Kris Yip Memorial Fondo is more than just a ride—it’s a celebration of cycling in the spirit of Kris. \nWhile timing services are provided using number plates and timing chips to track and identify riders for safety\, this event is not a race. It’s an opportunity for cyclists of all levels to come together in an inclusive atmosphere that values sportsmanship\, camaraderie\, and the joy of riding. Whether you enjoy pushing your limits with friendly competition or prefer a more leisurely pace to soak in the scenery\, the choice is yours. Ride at your own pace\, challenge yourself\, or simply enjoy the journey—all while honouring Kris’s legacy of making cycling welcoming and fun for everyone. \nThe Kris Yip Memorial Fondo is proudly organized by the Kris Yip Memorial Foundation\, dedicated to honouring Kris’s – kindness\, sportsmanship\, and inclusivity. Our mission is twofold: to promote the joy of cycling and to raise awareness about the importance of heart health\, particularly among athletes. \n  \n width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" data-mce-fragment="1"> \nFor event details and to register\, visit https://www.krisyipmemorialfondo.ca/ \n\nAbout Kris \nBorn and raised in Prince George\, Kris was deeply embedded in our community\, both through his passion for cycling and his financial management business. Tragically\, Kris’s untimely passing on January 18\, 2023\, was sudden and unexpected\, a result of advanced coronary artery disease. Despite being an elite athlete\, he faced an invisible enemy with no warning signs. The mission is to ensure that Kris’s legacy shines on\, raising awareness about heart disease and reminding everyone that it can affect anyone\, regardless of their fitness level. \nThis event has a dual purpose: fostering community ties via cycling and amplifying the significance of heart health care in Northern BC. \nPlease consider donating to the Kris Yip Memorial Fund through the Prince George Community Foundation.
