SUMMARY:Americas Masters Games
DESCRIPTION:There will be three cycling disciplines for competition at the 2016 America’s Masters Games – Vancouver. \nThe first day of competition will be a Time Trial event. This will be held on a 10.6km course with participants completing two laps\, for a total distance of 21.2km. \nThe second day of competition will be a Road Race. This event will be held on the same 10.6km and there will be varying total distances across age categories\, see below for details. \nThe last day of competition will be a Hill Climb at Cypress Mountain. The popular hill climb in Vancouver will have participants complete a 12km route at an average of 6% gradient. \nFor the most up-to-date information on this event\, visit the event website here. \nTime Trial\nAll athletes will complete two laps of the 10.6km course for a total race distance of 21.2km for all competing athletes. Current proposal is that first athlete will be released at 11:00AM and we expect the last athlete to be done by 2:30PM – 3:30PM\, depending on the total number of participation. \nA finalized start time list will be made available by the Registration Convention two days prior to the event date. \n \n\nRoad Race\nAt this time\, the participation categories have been broken down into the following age brackets and corresponding distances on the 10.6km course: \n\n\n\nGender \nAge Category \nDistance \nLaps \nStart Time \n\n\nMale\n30 – 44\n116.6 km\n11\n08:00 AM\n\n\nFemale\n30 – 44\n116.6 km\n11\n08:05 AM\n\n\nMale\n45 – 59\n95.4 km\n9\n11:45 AM\n\n\nFemale\n45 – 59\n95.4 km\n9\n11:50 AM\n\n\nMale\n60+\n63.6 km\n6\n3:00 PM\n\n\nFemale\n60+\n63.6 km\n6\n3:05 PM\n\n\n\n  \n \nHill Climb\nParticipants will be broken down into similar age categories as the Road Race. Each category will be released 5:00 minutes apart from the start line\, beginning at 11:00 AM. The event will start at the Cypress Mountain Road Gate at the bottom of the mountain and will finish in the Cross Country Ski Hill Parking Lot at the 12km mark. \n \nMORE INFORMATION\nParticipation in the America’s Masters Games – Cycling Events require that all participants have a legal helmet and bicycle appropriate for the competition category. Time Trial bikes will only be allowed at the Time Trial competition. Otherwise\, a road legal Road Bike must be used. The America’s Masters Games will not be allowing any modified or tandem bicycles on the event courses as will the use of Aero Bars not be allowed on the Road or Hill Climb courses. \nPlease be aware that these events will be organized on traffic controlled roadways where local and residential traffic flow might be found on the course. At the Hill Climb\, a partial control of the roadway will be used for the majority of the event\, but opposing direction traffic is likely. \nAccommodation for your personal belongings will be made at all events with a Bag Check area available at the start lines. More information will be made available closer to the event date. \nThe America’s Masters Games will be releasing a comprehensive Technical Guide one month prior to the event start. Check back to this page for updated information. Please be advised that the course information might be adjusted closer to the date\, but all distance and participation categories will remain consistent unless unexpected registration numbers occur.

SUMMARY:CSI Pacific Athlete ID and Development Camp
DESCRIPTION:The mission of the Cycling Athlete Development Camps is to provide an environment of support to athletes who\, at an early age\, show signs of interest and commitment to their future success in cycling. The camp curriculum has been developed to maximize learning opportunities for all participants\, as well as challenge each athlete to develop and implement new technical\, tactical\, physical and mental skills through the various seminars\, training talks\, and racing opportunities offered throughout the week. \nReceiving daily instruction from some of Western Canada’s finest Cycling coaches\, the camps provide the necessary framework to improve the athlete’s skillset\, thus progressing their individual cycling development. Each athlete will receive an individual athlete report card following their participation in the camp assessing their cycling skills\, tactical competency\, and overall competition performance. \nThe camp is being offered in partnership with the Greater Victoria Velodrome Association (GVVA). Primary camp activities will take place at the Westshore Velodrome – 1767 Island Highway\, Victoria (Colwood). \nFor more information and to register click here. \nTarget Athlete Audience:\nAthletes born in 1998-2003. (Eligible for U15\, U17\, or U19 competition in 2016). \nFor 2016 the focus of the Cycling Athlete Development Camps will be on Track Cycling.\nAge eligible athletes who are currently racing at the Provincial\, and/or National level in Road\, Track\, CX\, MTB or BMX are invited to apply. Athletes will be selected to participate based on previous racing results\, RBC Training Ground and/or PODIUM SEARCH results\, or club/PSO coach recommendations. \nAthletes do not require track cycling experience\, however a high level of fitness and some basic cycling racing competence is encouraged*. (*A coach reference confirming basic cycling competency is required for 1st year cycling athletes). \nAll athletes require a Cycling BC license to participate in the camp. \nAll athletes require a Road\, Cyclocross\, or Mountain Bike with slicks for the camp.
