DESCRIPTION:This event has been cancelled for 2020 and will return in 2021\n  \nA cycle tour through the south Peace Region\, showcasing the strong renewable energy industry in the area and the amazing scenery of the Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark. The event will take riders from Chetwynd to Tumbler Ridge and beyond to Stoney Lake\, entering the Tumbler Ridge Geopark and riding by the Zonnebeke\, Moose Lake and Meikle Energy wind energy projects\, passing through Gwillim Lake Provincial Park along a quiet scenic highway. Views of snow capped peaks and pristine forest allow a meditative riding experience\, with almost no vehicular traffic and great support along the way.

This program works in harmony with the Robson Valley Mountain Bike Association to provide access to our local trail network.  As a recipient of a Cycling BC iRide Development Grant\, I have undergone NCCP-training with Cycling BC to help us utilize the iRide skills curriculum and help your child build confidence\, foster friendships and develop intermediate and advanced bicycle skills. \nAll sessions are covered by Cycling BC’s insurance policy with Jones Brown. \nThis learn-to-ride program covers a variety of topics that involve all aspects of riding. Participants will learn riding techniques such as uphill\, downhill\, tight turns\, braking\, gearing\, and how to properly adjust their bike to fit themselves. \nIf your child enjoys their iRide Community experience\, please let us know and we can continue with additional programs in the summer and autumn. SUMMARY:Caledonia iRide Bike Camp #6
DESCRIPTION:Caledonia iRide Bike Camp #6 @ Caledonia Nordic Ski Club \nA fun\, safe and memorable summer program available to local participants aged 6-13. The program will use the iRide skills curriculum and the Sprockids skills curriculum to help your child build their confidence\, foster friendships with their peers and develop intermediate and advanced mountain biking skills. This program connects kids with certified NCCP coaches trained to work with young people through Cycling BC’s iRide program. We offer this camp in weekly sessions with fun events including theme days\, camp games\, races\, and lots of outdoor adventures to add to the experience. \nActivities Include: \n\nTrails Riding & Skills Park\nBike Maintenance\nWeekly fun races\nDisc Golf\nOutdoor Team Challenges and Games\nOrienteering program\nTrail hiking and running\n\nSimilar to our spring programs\, kids will participate in the learn-to-ride program that covers a variety of topics that involve all aspects of riding. Your kids will learn riding techniques such as uphill\, downhill\, tight turns\, braking\, gearing\, and how to properly adjust their bike to fit themselves. With this weeklong camp\, we will also be introducing endurance challenges with a focus on obstacles\, front and back wheel lifts and single track riding\, this course will challenge kids to be more successful riders. \nCoaches and Groups \nAll our coaches will be NCCP certified instructors with additional Sprockids and First Aid Training. They will be active individuals who are excited to be a part of the program and work to help your kids improve their skills. DESCRIPTION:Where:\nA cycle tour through the south Peace Region\, showcasing the strong renewable energy industry in the area and the amazing scenery of the Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark. The event will take riders from Chetwynd to Tumbler Ridge and beyond to Stoney Lake\, entering the Tumbler Ridge Geopark and riding by the Zonnebeke\, Moose Lake and Meikle Energy wind energy projects\, passing through Gwillim Lake Provincial Park along a quiet scenic highway. Registration fees have been reduced by 50% \nBasic Cycling Skills (all disciplines)\nThis 8-hour workshop provides coaches with the understanding and expertise required to instruct the 8 basic and 8 intermediate skills of cycling. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\nThis event has received support from the viaSport. Registration fees have been reduced by 50% \nNCCP Let’s Ride! Community Initiation\nIdeal for parents\, volunteers\, teachers and others who occasionally work with youth or adults new to cycling\, this one day\, in-class workshop covers the basic principles of coaching including ethical decision making\, planning and organizing a practice\, cycling safety and risk management\, and introducing disabled riders to the sport. \nThis course is the minimum requirement for new coaches who would like to work with a local group or Cycling BC’s iRide program. As an alternative\, coaches can skip this course and instead enroll in the Ready to Race! Training Basics course. \nSpecial Funding: \nThis project has been funded in part by a grant from viaSport BC and the Province of British Columbia. Course registration fees have been reduced by 50%.  Additional travel support is available for those traveling over 100km to attend the course. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\niRide Sprockids (Caledonia Trail Blazers)\nA fun\, safe and memorable community after-school program available to local participants aged 6-12 with an iRide skill level of 3-5. The program will use the iRide skills curriculum and the Sprockids skills curriculum to help your child build their confidence\, foster friendships with their peers and develop intermediate and advanced bicycle skills. \nThis program builds on the legacy of Doug Detwiller’s Sprockids curriculum to connect kids in your community with certified NCCP coaches trained to work with young people through Cycling BC’s iRide program. All sessions are covered by Cycling BC’s insurance policy with Marsh Canada. \nThis 6-week learn-to-ride program covers a variety of topics that involve all aspects of riding.
