DESCRIPTION:Road Skills\nThis module is officially titled: NCCP Ready to Race! Introduction to Competition Skills & Tactics Practical: Road in the Coaches Association of Canada LOCKER system. \nThis outdoor club skills module helps you practice teaching intermediate road cycling skills and tactics for participants in the “Learn to Train” and “Train to Train” stages of the Long Term Athlete Development Model. \nThe module builds on the concepts covered in the pre-requisites and takes place in a parking lot and on local roadways. To pass the module\, participants must prepare two lesson plans (one skill and one tactic) and be ready to teach them to the group. This activity is included in questions 52b and 52c of the Club Coach Journal. \nAfter completing this module and all remaining SafeSport pre-requisites\, you may fulfill the role of Club Assistant Coach at a Cycling BC club or team. A certificate of completion (yellow) is awarded and you may apply to Cycling BC’s coach database to showcase your expertise.  To achieve full certification and fulfill the role of club head coach\, complete the final theory module and submit your portfolio for evaluation. \nThis particular event is organized and facilitated by Cycling BC. \nPre-Requisites: \n\nClub Theory A\nBasic Skills\n\nThe pathway includes additional on-demand and facilitated SafeSport modules that are required to lead Cycling BC practices and clinics. DESCRIPTION:Making Ethical Decisions\nThis 4-hour module is facilitated online by viaSport.  This module of part of both the Community\, Comp-Intro and Comp-Dev coach development streams and is designed for anyone who is working in the sports sector. \nAfter completing this module\, coaches will be able to: \n\nAnalyze a challenging situation to determine its moral\, legal\, or ethical implications and\nApply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to situations in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics.\nAttempt to achieve a passing grade (75%) on the NCCP MED quiz (unlimited number of attempts)\n\nAlternatively\, you may challenge the quiz for $85; however\, you are only allowed 2 attempts to achieve a passing grade\n\n\n\nLearn more about this module here\, including home-study options.  Learn more about becoming an NCCP-Certified cycling coach here.

DESCRIPTION:Basic Skills (Private Event for Spirit North)\nThis module is officially titled: NCCP Ready to Race! Introduction to Competition Basic Cycling Skills in the Coaches Association of Canada LOCKER system but is included in both the Community and Comp-Intro context. \nThis outdoor skills module helps you practice teaching basic cycling skills for participants in the “Active Start”\, “FUNdamentals”\, “Learn to Train”\, and “Train to Train” stages of the Long Term Athlete Development Model. \nThe module builds on the concepts covered in the pre-requisites and takes place at a local grass or gravel field. To pass the module\, participants must prepare a lesson plan and be ready to teach two 10-minute skill sessions to other coaches in training. This activity is included in question 43 of the Community Coach Journal\, or question 52 Club Coach Journal. \nAfter completing this module and all remaining SafeSport pre-requisites\, you may continue your training as an iRide Instructor or as Club Assistant Coach. \nThis particular event is organized and facilitated by Cycling BC. \nPre-Requisites: \n\nCommunity Theory or Club Theory A\n\nThe pathway includes additional on-demand and facilitated SafeSport modules that are required to lead Cycling BC practices and clinics. However\, only the Theory module of your choice are necessary to participate in this module. \nModule includes: \n\nBraking\nStraight-line riding\nTight turns\nGearing and cadence\nCornering\nWheel Lifts\nClimbing\nDescending\nDismounts/Remounts\nShoulder Bumping\nTire Buzzing\nDrop-offs\n\nSpecial Notes: \n\nThe minimum age to participate is 14 years old.\nIf you are working with young riders under the age of 11 or in a community setting (iRide)\, please instead take the Community Coach Theory module (officially titled: NCCP Community Cycling Practice Planning)\nCoaches who have previously completed this module\, or who have achieved NCCP-trained or NCCP-certified status may audit this module free of charge if space is available.
