SUMMARY:Nelson KMB p/b iRide Sprockids
DESCRIPTION:Nelson KMB p/b iRide Sprockids\nHi! I am Travis Hauck of Kootenay Mountain Biking and this year I am excited to offer a new youth cycling program in Nelson! This program works in unison with our existing programs and is perfect for youth riders new to biking and want to try it out before making any larger commitments. \nOur new 6-week program offers a fun\, safe and memorable community after-school program available to local participants aged 5-10 with an iRide skill level of 1-4.    As recipients of a Cycling BC iRide Development Grant with support from the Columbia Basin Trust “Basin PLAYS” Initiative\, my team of leaders and I have undergone NCCP-training with Cycling BC to help us utilize both the iRide skills and Sprockids skills curriculum and help your child build confidence\, foster friendships and develop beginner and intermediate bicycle skills. Our coaching team includes Jeannie Dwyer\, Ben Porteous\, Levi Koroscil and Nate Atkins. All sessions are covered by Cycling BC’s insurance policy with Jones Brown \nOur sessions plan to stay close to town\, utilizing the pump track\, open grass fields and recreational parks to practice skills.  In the future\, as riders progress through Cycling BC skill ability levels\, riders can try out one of KMB’s other programs. \nIf your child enjoys their iRide Sprockids experience\, perhaps we’ll see you one of Cycling BC’s Youth Clubs! \nWeekly updates will be available for participants via a closed facebook group. Participants will be invited after they complete registration (View Group) \nEvent Details:\n\n\n\nDates:\n6x Mondays (April 29\, May 6\, 13\,  27\, June 3\, 10)\n\n\nTime:\n3:30pm – 5:00pm\n\n\nLocation:\nArt Gibson’s all-wheel park\, West Beasley Street\, Nelson\, BC\n\n\n# of Leaders:\n2\n\n\n# of Participants:\n20\n\n\nRatio Leaders / Riders:\n1:10\n\n\nCost:\n$60      ($15 Cycling BC Mini-Membership required)\n\n\nParticipants:\n5-10 yr;  Level 1-4\n\n\nHead Coach:\nTravis Hauck\n\n\nRegister & Pay:\nRegister Here – select program from “After-School” dropdown menu (Open Apr.1)\n\n\n\nFor questions about the event\, please contact Travis via email: travis_hauck@yahoo.com. SUMMARY:Hayman Classic | Junior Road Provincial Championships
DESCRIPTION:The 2019 Edition of the Hayman Classic promises to be a truly special event. \nComprised of four races over three days\, it stands almost alone on a yearly cycling calendar that caters overwhelmingly to adults. What makes the Hayman Classic distinctive is that it is open only to young cyclists\, meaning those aged 13 to 18. \nMore than that\, the races are designed to give them a European-style experience of riding in groups or alone over courses that challenge their skill\, strength and stamina against top juniors from British Columbia\, Canada and the United States. For coaches and trainers\, it’s a chance to take the measure of the next generation of cyclists. \nFor Ron Hayman\, the former Olympian and pro racer behind the Hayman Classic\, it’s an opportunity to nurture and encourage young riders\, but more important to give them a chance to compete\, to have a “real-world experience\,” as he puts it. Too often\, he says\, young riders devote hours and hours to training but rarely if ever have the chance to succeed – and fail and learn – from a hard-fought race. The Hayman Classic helps to fill that void. \n  \n width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" data-mce-fragment="1"> \nThe 2018 Hayman Classic Promo from Chris Stenberg on Vimeo. \n
