SUMMARY:Kettle Mettle Dirty Fondo
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to welcome you to the Okanagan on September 15th/16th for the 8th annual Kettle Mettle Gravel Fondo. This event holds its title as the oldest Gravel Fondo in Western Canada. \nSituated in the stunning Okanagan Valley\, our course carves its way through wildflower-blanketed canyons\, historic trestles\, and shaded decommissioned railway tunnels. SUMMARY:School of Hard Knox Cyclocross (BCICX)
DESCRIPTION:Cyclocross returns to Kelowna for 2023! More info and rider guidelines available at www.bcinteriorcross.ca.\nEuropean road cyclists in the early 1900s used to race each other to the next town over through farmers’ fields\, over dirt roads\, ditches\, hedges\, probably livestock… Forced portage sections helped exercise other muscle groups and improved circulation in the cold off-season months. \nCyclocross is now the second most popular road cycling discipline\, sweeping across Europe and now North America. Modern cyclocross races consist of many laps of a several-kilometer course featuring everything from pavement to trails to ankle-deep (and sometimes deeper) mud\, with steep hills\, staircases and barriers requiring riders to dismount\, carry the bike over\, around or through the obstacle\, and remount to continue riding. \nFounded by Catharine Pendrel in 2010\, BC Interior Cyclocross brings races to some of BC’s most beautiful cities and towns. SUMMARY:Cancelled: Hayman Classic 2024
DESCRIPTION:***2024 EVENT CANCELLED*** \nThe organizers of the 2024 Hayman Desert Classic have made the difficult decision to cancel the event due to low registration numbers. \nFurthermore\, the organizing society apologises to all those who registered and the many volunteers who have already contributed countless hours towards this year’s event. \nRegistered participants will be contacted by email to arrange a refund. \nAs the event was also the host event of the 2024 BC U17/U19 Road Race & Criterium Provincial Championships\, Cycling BC is actively searching for a replacement host organizer and event for the U17/U19 Road Race & Criterium Championships. \n  \n \nThe Hayman Classic is founded on the idea of bringing young cyclists together on home soil. Unlike almost any other race in Canada\, there are no adult categories – this is all about the future! It is our hope that their experiences in this event will have a positive\, lasting impact on their lives. \nRegistration is now open for the 3-Day Hayman Classic Youth Stage Race. This 2024 edition is shaping up to be our best yet. \nThe 2024 Edition will include the categories: U15\, U17 and U19 male and female racers. The category age is as of December 31\, 2024. \nThe Criterium and Road Race will double as the 2024 BC Championships for U17 & U19 riders. U17 riders must race in the U19 category for the U17 BC Championships.\n\nAs a stage race\, the final standings will be based on accumulated time. Special rules will ensure riders are not penalized with elimination for unfortunate mishaps. Prizes will be awarded for stages and final GC. \nRacing starts Friday with an uphill time trial followed by the Area 27 road race. General Classification is based on accumulated time and is open to licensed riders between the ages of 13 and 18. Race categories include U19 male and female\, and ability-based categories for younger and newer riders. \nAnyone unsure of the category best suited to them can rest assured they can change categories at the May 23rd Rider Meeting/Number Pickup\, and even after the hill climb. A Banquet-Awards Night is included with registration. \nAdditional banquet tickets are available at registration site for family and team support. \nVisit the Hayman Classic website for more information. Registration is open now!
