SUMMARY:Intro to Downhill - BC Cup New Racer workshop: Coast Gravity Park SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is sold out. Please email cory@cyclingbc.net to be added to a waitlist\nCycling BC and Blueprint Athlete Development are excited to announce their collaboration with Coast Gravity Park. On Father’s Day weekend we’ll be welcoming riders to a fun\, fast\, and fulfilling weekend of learning and timed training on the CGP classic Dynamite Panther.  \nThroughout the weekend\, riders will have the opportunity to learn more about the strategies and decisions that allow for a fun and successful racing experience. A number of mentors and coaches will be on-site to ride with athletes\, offer advice\, and to provide some insight into their own racing experiences and how they might approach the same track for themselves.  \nOn Saturday\, riders and parents are invited to meet with Blueprint Athlete Development coaches and riders to formulate a plan for a great weekend\, followed by spending time on track. On Sunday\, riders will wrap up their final practice sessions and then have the opportunity for two timed laps in order to put their training and strategy to the test. This event is simply “timed training” rather than a serious competition\, with plenty of opportunities for learning and fun along the way. With any luck\, every rider will leave CGP with new insight into how they can succeed at future competitions.  \nThis workshop is open to riders aged 11 to 22 (born 1999 to 2010) who are comfortable riding sustained descents on black diamond trails. This workshop is designed for new racers but riders with minimal race experience (<2 years) are welcome to join. \nWorkshop registration fee does not include: \n\nPark pass*\nMeals\nEquipment rentals\nInsurance (all participants are required to be Cycling BC members or purchase a single event membership)\n\n*Note that all participants will be required to pre-book their park passes ahead of time in order to gain access to the trails at Coast Gravity Park. \n  \nItinerary\nThe following document is an itinerary\, please also see our “Race Weekend Checklist” for further information about what to bring and how to prepare for a successful weekend. \nSite:  \n\nCoast Gravity Park\nWeather\n\nSaturday: \n\n10:00-10:30\n\nMeet and greet with coaching staff\, athletes\, and parents\nA brief overview of the day’s objectives\, and how riders can begin to plan for a successful practice session\n\n\n10:30-12:30\n\nOn track training\nWalking sections\, beginning to test grip levels\, identifying and trying lines\, etc. \n4 laps or less\n\n\n12:30-1:30\n\nLunch\nBike check\n\n\n1:30-3:30\n\nOn track training \nMaking decisions about line choice\, identifying “best practices” for lines\, etc. \n4 laps or less\n\n\n\nSunday:  \n\n9:45-10:00\n\nMeet and greet with coaching staff\, athletes\, and parents\nA brief overview of the day’s objectives\, and how riders can begin to plan for a successful practice session\n\n\n10:00-11:00\n\nOn track training\nFinal track check\, confirmation of lines\, etc. \n2 laps or less\n\n\n11:00-12:00\n\nTimed training using Freelap\nGroup 1 \n2 laps or less\n\n\n\n12:00-1:00\n\nTimed training using Freelap\nGroup 2\n2 laps or less\n\n\n1:00-1:30\n\nMeet and greet with coaching staff\, athletes\, and parents\nA final debrief of the session\, lessons learned\, and next steps\n\n\n1:30-4:00\n\nSocial ride!\n\n\n\n  \n
