SUMMARY:Try Para-Cycling
DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 14th from 4-6pm at the Burnaby Velodrome in Burnaby\, BC to give Para-Cycling a whirl for FREE.  This camp is open to all Para-Athletes of any age and ability\, with National and Provincial coaches who will be present to help you learn to ride the track.  All you need to bring is running shoes and gym clothing.  Athletes will have the opportunity to meet and cycle with Olympic gold medallist and world champion\, Tristen Chernove.  Following our session on Friday\, the 14th participants will head to Fortius Sport Institute in Burnaby\, BC for 11am for a fun and free indoor cycling session with past National Team Member\, Joanie Caron.  After the indoor session athletes will be treated to a healthy and delicious catered lunch with Joanie\, Tristen and national and provincial team coaches.   Participants can expect to wrap up the day around 2pm.

The course has 6 km of forest single track per lap\, with log roll overs\, the new-for-2017 Little Ripper drop and rock garden\, the popular 93 foot long Fender Bender bridge\, Loop ‘n Chute rock garden\, the dive rock garden. the Dog Leg bridge\, Over The Creek plank\, our Beer Belly bridge\, Jayride A-frame\, wood wall ride\, drops . . . the list goes on! Fast and flowy with 3 pumptrack flow trails\, Dy-no-mite Roll\, Chainless and Jayride. Big smiles every lap! \nClick here for the course map\nThe Start\n2 starts\, with staggered starts for categories within each start time. 0900 for Junior and Novice classes. 1130 start for 19+ to Elite. \nFeed Stations\nSelf feeding\, but you’ll be riding by the beer garden twice on every lap so no excuses for not hydrating!  (Beer Garden opens at 11\, earlier if we can!) \nPrizes\nThere will be cash prizes for Elite Men and Women as per BC Cup criteria; 1st place 5x entry\, 2nd 4x entry\, 3rd 3x entry\, 4th 2x entry\, 5th 1x entry.\nPodium time for the 0900 race will be at 1200.  1130 race podium will be at approx 1330. \nSwag\, swag and more swag! Each registrant is automatically eligible for the swag raffle\, held at each podium ceremony. You must be present to win. \nRed Racer Beer included!\nEach registrant of drinking age will recieve a ticket for 1 Red Racer beer at the beer garden. But you’ll probably want an extra while you cheer your favourite racer as they ride by the beer garden twice per lap. Or perhaps they’ll need hydration. \nPapa Murphy’s Pizza included!\nEach registrant will recieve a ticket for 1 Papa Murphy’s Pizza slice\, prepared hot on site. \nScott Robarts race photo included!\nEach registrant will have their photo taken on the course. Free download without restrictions. Cool! \nLicences & Insurance\nTo race in all categories EXCEPT Novice\, U13 or 19+\, you will need a 2017 UCI RACE License. For Novice\, U13 or 19+\, you will need a 2017 Cycling BC Provincial (Citizen) Race Licence\, or you can purchase a single event licence for $10\, $12 for US residents. U13 for $5. \nAll riders must present their 2017 licence or proof of purchase/email at the event. \n\n Single event licences are only valid for Canadian residents covered under a Federal or Provincial Hospital or Medical Plan.\nUS Residents must have a 2017 UCI Licence and sign a declaration that adequate out of country travel insurance has been obtained. If you have a valid USAC UCI Racing Licence\, you do not need to purchase a single event licence.\nDay license purchasers under 19 MUST have a parent or guardian sign the Cycling BC release at registration in order to participate.\nALL participants must sign a SORCE Bike Club waiver. DESCRIPTION:Location: Just behind Husky Gas station at the intersection of Paul Lake Road and Highway 5\, the Yellow Head highway\nTime: Sign on starts at 6:00pm\, race starts at 6:30pm. \nThis is a mass start race\, roughly 16km in length with around 400m of elevation.
