SUMMARY:Escape Velocity Spring Series Aldergrove Long RR
DESCRIPTION:Some Rules to Remember \n\nFenders must be removed for racing at Spring Series.\nThere will be no free lap rule for mechanicals. If you do suffer a mechanical and sit out a lap\, you will be allowed to re-enter the race in the main group or any group behind the main group\, at the discretion of the race organizer. In this situation you will be allowed to finish out the race but you must not impact the outcome of the race in any way. Should this occur you as well as your entire team/club will be disqualified from that race. This rule will be strictly enforced.\nCentre Line Rule\n\nAny rider who intentionally rides on the left side of the centre line in order to gain advantage is in violation of the centre line rule. \nYou must also stay to the right of the cones in the middle of the road along the course. Cones will used to delineate the acceptable lines in all corners and in any curves with limited visibility. \nPlease remember that the races are run on open roads and there will be on coming traffic in the other lane. Crossing the centre of the road (yellow line no) or beyond the cones is exceptionally dangerous to both yourself and the other people you are racing with. \nThe only times that is it acceptable to break this rule is when a rider is pushed over the centre line by riders beside them (and re-enters without gaining advantage). \nIf you are observed violating the centre line rule you may be pulled from the race and receive a Yellow Card. A Yellow Card may also be issued if multiple riders state that one individual has broken the centre line rule. If a rider with a Yellow Card is observed to violate the centre line rule they will be expelled from all remaining Spring Series races. \n\nKeep your bib & chip\n\nYou will get a race number (“bib”) and a timing chip at the first race\, and you will keep it for use in the Spring and Sportif series throughout the year. Bring it each time you race: replacement numbers and chips cost $5 (number swap due to category change is free\, but you have to turn in your old number). \n\nBe Nice\n\n\nPlease be courteous and respectful to vehicles and residents\, if they complain we will not be able to use this course.\nPlease use the washrooms provided.\nTake your litter with you: this includes not tossing mid-race gel wrappers on the ground. Tuck it back in your pocket. Retrieve your bottles\, too.\nOffensive Language\, whether directed at passers-by\, fellow racers\, officials\, or your own weak self\, is not acceptable.\n\nAny of these offences are grounds for disqualification and banning from future races. Don’t be the person we decide to make an example of. \nRACE INSTRUCTIONS: \nStep 0. Pre-reg!\nYou can pre-register for your chip and bib online. That lets you save $5 and some time at your first race. You still have to sign up for each race; pre-reg will open at least 2 weeks before each event. \nStep 1. Sign-on \nSign-on opens at 9:30 AM sharp. \nLicense \nThese races are classified as Club Events with Cycling BC with an additional insurance rider. SUMMARY:Phoenix Velo Youth Group
DESCRIPTION:The Phoenix Velo Youth Group is part of the Phoenix Velo Training Group and is aimed at introducing youth aged 9-18 to the sport of Bicycle Road Racing in a controlled and structured environment. \n\n\n\n\nThe Phoenix Youth L2T Group will focus on individual fitness and skills. The Group will learn the principles of riding a road racing bike including cornering\, braking and gear selection. Training exercises will include skills development\, short distance sprints as well as longer distance rides. Races will be timed individual efforts over varying distances and riders will be able to chart their improvements throughout the season. The Group will normally use the smaller 24 inch wheel bikes that are easier to handle and have a shorter “reach” to the brake and gear controls. \nThe Group will meet once per week. The Group meets at the Container at the Mission Raceway at 5:15PM for sign on and bike check. The training session lasts 1 hour from 5:30PM to 6:30PM. Parents\, or nominated adult guardian\, should remain at the track at all times throughout the session. For safety reasons the Group must be off the track by 6:30PM. \nThe club has a limited supply of loaner bicycles which are intended to allow new riders to try the sport before committing to the purchase of their own bike. Riders wishing to use Club bicycles must arrive at 5:15PM\, please note that: \n\nBikes will be allocated from 5:15PM to 5:30PM only: no bikes will be allocated once the session starts.\nBikes will be allocated by the club on a week by week basis. There is no reserving of bikes.\nDue to the availability of bikes\, on some occasions riders may be expected to share a bike.\nPreference will be given to new riders who have not previously used a loaner bike.\nThe club does not guarantee the availability of bikes.\nBikes may not leave the Raceway unless taking part in an approved Club Event.\n\nClick here for more information on the Phoenix Velo Youth Group.

DESCRIPTION:Online pre-registration only. Register here. \nBe prepared for 3 awesome timed downhill runs as you hit some of the best trails in HammerFest. Road climb to the first descent will start from Englishman River Falls Park. The 2015 course is exactly the same as the inaugural 2014 race. Machete/Worm/Walrus for the first descent. Moose Knuckles/Receding Treeline/Daryl’s for the second descent. The third timed descent finishes the race off with a rip down Jughead. Can’t get much better! \nRoad climb to the first descent will start from Englishman River Falls Park. Good parking and facilities. Get your Enduro groove on and come out for a sweet time. \nCost includes a pizza and drink at the finish line. \nA new timing system will be used for this years race whereby racers will wear a wrist strap that needs to be scanned at the beginning and end of the timed descents. This should make for a more organized\, better executed\, accurate and rider-regulated race. The digital age is becoming the norm. \nThe 2015 Vancouver Island Cup Mountain Bike Race Series brings together cross country\, downhill\, enduro and marathon disciplines with races from numerous local mountain bike clubs spanning the length of Vancouver Island. If you’re a first timer\, seasoned pro or just out to have some fun we would love to see you experience mountain bike racing on Vancouver Island.

SUMMARY:Cobble Hill XC
DESCRIPTION:Register online here\, or register in store at Cycle Therapy’s new location\, #102-360 Duncan Street\, Duncan BC. \nAfter 8 years of racing at Cobble Hill we feel we have the perfect combination of single and double track trails\, we think the course distance is dialed in at 21km for Experts\, 14km for Intermediates and 6km for Beginners and we know there is enough tough climbing to satisfy a billy goat! Expect a similar route to 2014 with some variations to explore some of the new trails built on Cobble Hill over the last year. \nRace Distance \n\nExpert – 3 Laps\nIntermediate – 2 Laps\nBeginner – 1 Lap\n\nVintage Category \nAfter a successful introduction in 2013 we are going to bring back the Vintage Category! If your bike meets two of the three criteria below you have a vintage racer. \n•Rim brakes\, front and rear\n•Full Rigid (no hi-tech suspension lockouts)\n•Single Speed \nThe vintage category will be an open race that will complete one lap of the beginner course\, approximately 3km. Dust off that old iron and bring some nostalgia to Cobble Hill. \nCost – $10 as standalone event or FREE with registration into one of the other categories. \nIsland Cup Series \nThe 2015 Vancouver Island Cup Mountain Bike Race Series brings together cross country\, downhill\, enduro and marathon disciplines with races from numerous local mountain bike clubs spanning the length of Vancouver Island. If you’re a first timer\, seasoned pro or just out to have some fun we would love to see you experience mountain bike racing on Vancouver Island. \n

SUMMARY:NCCP: Community Initiation
DESCRIPTION:Let’s Ride! Community Cycling- Initiation (CCI) is the NCCP context for coaches who will primarily work with novice\, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level\, including participants in the Active Start\, FUNdamentals and early Learn to Train stages of athlete development. The program is simple\, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans\, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program is on having participants develop skills which are basic to MTB\, BMX\, and Road\, in a controlled\, off-road\, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot. \nCCI training has two parts – the “Let’s Ride!” CCI workshop\, and a Basic Cycling Skills workshop. The first module provides information on ethical coaching\, participants and their needs\, basic practice planning\, equipment and other important information for coaches of beginner cyclists. The second module provides an opportunity for “on-bike” practice in skill teaching and analysis\, practice coaching and use of provided lesson plans. On completion\, coaches have “Trained” status in NCCP. \nThe cost for this training is $100\, which will include both the Let’s Ride! CCI training\, and the Mountain Bike Skills & Tactics course\, on May 3\, 2015. \nThe course will be taught by Richard Wooles\, Executive Director of Cycling BC and four-time Olympic coach. \nTo register\, please contact Cycling BC.
