5 STEPS TO START YOUR OWN IRIDE SPROCKIDS PROGRAM

  1. Explore iRide Sprockids and our iRide Grants
  2. Contact the iRide Provincial Manager (Contact)
  3. Submit your grant application (Apply) and Criminal Record Check (Submit)
  4. Sign terms of agreement via CCN and choose your training course combinations: (Course Catalogue)
    • Required:
      • NCCP Community Initiation: Let’s Ride & Basic Cycling Skills (10 h)
    • Chose One:
      • Sprockids Leader Training (7 h)
      • iRide Instructor E-Book & Practicum (8 h)
      • High-Five: Healthy Child Development (8 h)
      • Canucks Autism Network: CAN Cycling Workshop (8 h)
  5. Lead your iRide Sprockids or iRide Community Program
    • Decide on your program format:
      • School Bike Club, Community Group Ride, Community Centre program
      • # of weeks, start/finish time, target either iRide skill level 3, 4 or 5
      • Receive your iRide Backpack with cones, ropes, first aid kit, chalk, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Medals and tools
    • Submit photos and wrap-up report
    • Submit teaching invoice and receive funds
    • Invite your riders to the next iRide Program or Club Taster Pro Ride in your area (cyclingbc.net/iridemybike)

What is iRide Sprockids?

Cycling BC’s iRide program has teamed up with Sprockids to help cycling enthusiasts start neighborhood cycling groups across the province.   iRide Sprockids combines the proven Sprockids curriculum with support from Cycling BC to help you start your own program. *If you elect NOT to take the Sprockids 1-day course, your program will instead be titled as an iRide Program. Who are iRide Sprockids Leaders?

  • A 16 – 19-year-old in search of volunteer hours in a leadership environment
  • An 18 – 23-year-old university student looking to create a fun work opportunity
  • An adult excited to get kids active, share your passion for cycling and are interested in part-to-full time, supported self-employment or volunteer work

What is Sprockids?

Sprockids is a comprehensive skills program designed for participants aged 6-16 and now used in over 20 countries by teachers, coaches, cycling clubs, youth organizations, law enforcement agencies, and parents.

For teachers, Sprockids provides exciting and unique methods for teaching the core curriculum topics through cycling.  For cycling clubs, youth groups, community programs, cycling shops, and parents Sprockids provides a fun, safe, and systematic program, which is easy to implement and run.  Visit the Sprockids website to learn more.
