Ever thought about being a Commissaire?

Cycling BC is pleased to share this commissaire training opportunity from Cycling Canada.

At Cycling BC, we are committed to developing opportunities for members of the community to get more involved in all aspects of the sport of cycling.

Road and mountain bike Provincial Commissaire C e-learning courses from Cycling Canada are launching soon. This is the first level for commissaires to get involved in officiating races.

Cycling BC strongly encourages that all provincial clubs take advantage of these new educational opportunities. Together, we can build capacity to have qualified officials run events in a safe environment. Clubs are urged to engage their members and supporters to become trained and active as commissaires.

It doesn’t end with the on-line course, Mentorship and Development is a part of the plan.

To support clubs, organizers, and members in building their capacity to run higher-level races, Cycling BC is offering opportunities for newly trained Provincial C level commissaires to gain experience at races. New commissaires will have opportunities to be mentored by senior commissaires at select events throughout the 2016-17 season. If you wish to be mentored as a commissaire, or mentor new commissaires, sign up for mentorship opportunities now!

Mentorship opportunities are now available for road commissaires, at Escape Velocity Spring Series races. Click here to sign up.

Commissaires who are already working at the provincial level will be given further opportunity to upgrade. Grants will be made available to assist commissaires in taking advantage of further training opportunities. More information on grants will be made available soon.

Watch this space for a two-year calendar of Provincial A, B and C level courses to be posted by the end of March for BMX, cyclocross, mountain bike, road, and track commissaire training.
