XCO & XCM Series Head to the Sunshine Coast, May 13th

Saturday May 13th sees the return of the iconic Sunshine Coast mountain bike race, ‘The Coaster’ in Sechelt.  This year, the events is part of the BC Cup XCO series, as well as the inaugural BC Premier XCM Series.  Even if you’re not chasing points, you can still participate with your Provincial Ride licence, and those just testing the waters can buy a one day licence to participate in this event.

Each entry includes a free Coaster beer glass, ensuring that everyone gets something when the race is over.  Cash prizing will go to the Elites for the marathon course, and tons of draw prizes are up for grabs.  On top of this, a meal and a beer or soft drink is part of every rider’s entry fee.

Racers have a choice of taking on the full 43 km marathon course or the 21 km shorter course.  Organizers have been out every weekend draining puddles, adding drainage, clearing blowdowns and meshing bridges – they’re ready! The course has been marked, so riders are welcome to come out a pre-ride the course before deciding to enter, but don’t wait too long as registration closes at midnight on May 11th.

Check out  www.sunshinecoaster.net for directions, registration, places to stay, and maps of the courses.
