Second Year A Success for Cycling BC’s Coach & Athlete Conference

Cycling BC hosted its 2nd Annual Coach & Athlete Conference at Fortius Sport & Health in Burnaby on January 27 and 28, 2018. The event introduced Cycling BC coaches, athletes and enthusiastic members to world-class experts in physiology, psychology, injury prevention, concussions, and strength & conditioning. The event also featured a speaker panel of athletes including Olympic champions, retired Canadian cycling icons, current professional riders, and upcoming cycling talent from BC.

With Cycling BC’s High-Performance Program Manager, Tara Mowat, and Cycling BC’s NCCP Liaison and iRide Provincial Manager, Ben Chaddock, collaborating to put together the conference agenda, the schedule included an athlete-focused Saturday and a coach-focused Sunday.

“It is really important to bring all of our Cycling BC High Performance athletes together for this event. It’s an opportunity for athletes from different disciplines of our diverse sport to meet one another and share in the learning experience,” says Tara Mowat.

“I am really thrilled that our members and coaches showed such strong support for this event, now in its second year. The athlete panel was a great new addition to the event and I hope it was enlightening for everyone. As we learned from the panel session, world-class athletes aren’t Marvel Comics super-heroes. They’re just as real as the other athletes in the room and our panel members gave the audience some valuable insight from their own experiences in the sport.”

This event was made possible by Cycling BC, Cycling Canada, the Coaches Association of Canada and Fortius Sport & Health.

Thank you to all of our speakers, supporters and participants. We are already looking forward to the conference in 2019 and we hope to see you there!
