Employment Opportunity: Event Representatives (Summer Student Positions)

Cycling BC is the provincial governing body for the sport of cycling in British Columbia with over 5,200 members annually representing the full range of cycling disciplines including Road, Track, Cyclo-cross, Mountain Biking, BMX and Para-cycling. Cycling BC is a not-for-profit association registered under the BC Societies Act and affiliated with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) through our membership in Cycling Canada.

We are seeking two Event Reps to work over the summer and support a variety of events and races in the cycling community. The successful candidates must have been full-time students in the past year and must be returning to school in the next school year. The ideal candidates will have some knowledge of the sport of Cycling – enthusiasts are encouraged to apply.

Position Overview:

The Event Reps will work under the direction of the Event Operations Manager and will act as Cycling BC representatives at targeted events, as well as working in the Cycling BC office pre and post-event ensuring that race organizers have what they need and race results are checked and posted in a timely manner. Duties could include setting up and taking down of displays and activations at events, helping with registration, answering customer inquiries, creating reports and tracking metrics.

As public representatives for Cycling BC, the Event Reps will be expected to have a strong ability to communicate and represent Cycling BC in a professional manner. The Event Reps will engage with the community, assist where needed at the events, and provide social media content to the Communications Manager.

The successful candidates will receive training and ongoing mentorship by Cycling BC Staff. Travel and weekend work is required. Pre-approved out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed and the pay is $20/hour. Access to a vehicle and the ability to lift and move equipment is required.

We are hoping to fill these positions as soon as possible – the end date of employment will be August 31, 2018.
