XCO Canada Cup, BC Championships, and BC Premier Series Final convene in Whistler on June 23rd

On Saturday, June 23, Whistler Blackcomb will concurrently play host to the Canada Cup XCO Race #6, the BC Provincial XCO Championships, and the final race of the 2018 BC Premier XCO Series. Results from this single event will produce the current Canada Cup XCO points leaders, BC’s Provincial XCO Champions, and the BC Premier XCO Series winners.

As this event is a Canada Cup race sanctioned by Cycling Canada and internationally sanctioned by the UCI, UCI rules will apply.

Course Updates for 2018: This year’s course includes lots of new improvements including 600m of new downhill and uphill single-track to replace some of the grinding dirt road sections from previous years. Current conditions have the trails running really well and the course will be fully marked for pre-riding by Wednesday. The start/finish area will be Blackcomb Base 2. View the course map.

UCI Points Eligibility:
The Junior Expert Men & Women (Canada Cup category) will be eligible for UCI C2 junior points. Elite Men & Women are also eligible for UCI C2 points. No other categories are eligible to receive UCI points.

Licence Requirements:
As this event is also a Canada Cup race, please ensure you are aware of the membership/licence requirements.

Cycling BC would like to clarify important membership/licence requirements regarding all internationally sanctioned events presented in the province of British Columbia. At each of the following events, participants in specific categories will be required to present a valid UCI international licence at registration in order to be allowed to compete in their designated category. Failure to do so will result in entry being denied.

Please note, the licence requirements also apply even if the race is part of a provincial race series such as the BC Premier Series. Points will only be allocated to the racers competing in their respective category as it appears on the license.

Racers requiring a change to their license are asked to contact membership@cyclingbc.net or login to ccnbikes.com to make the change well in advance of the event.

Awards/Podiums:

There will be awards ceremonies for each race. All podium finishers are expected to be in attendance.  Awards will be held at the finish shortly after the last racer finishing.

Awards will be held in the following order,

1.       U13 Women
2.       U13 Men
