The Canadian Men’s Track Endurance selection consisted of a greater part of BC riders including Vancouverites Amiel Flett-Brown, Ethan Ogrodniczuk, and Sean Richardson. This was Richardson’s first track world cup event as a first-year Elite and a first for Flett-Brown on a national team project. With guidance from BC coach and former track cycling Olympian, Laura Brown, the Men’s Team Pursuit squad finished in a blazing 4:00 for the bronze medal win over Belarus. Victoria’s Riley Pickrell was also named to the team and rode the Madison with Calgary’s Jackson Kinniburgh.

On the women’s side, Victoria’s Erin Attwell helped the Women’s Team Pursuit squad win a bronze medal and set a new Cycling Canada NextGen development team record. Veteran rider Steph Roorda of Vancouver was also part of the Canadian team in Milton.

The Canadian team finished the Milton World Cup in fifth place on the nation standings and tied for third in the medal count. The impact that BC’s riders are having on the national programs is a testament to all the athletes’ hard work, dedication and the ongoing development support from their clubs/teams, coaches, parents, and provincial high performance programs.

The Milton World Cup was the last stop for the Canadian team before the UCI Track Cycling World Championships taking place in Berlin, Germany from February 26th to March 1st, followed by the 2020 Olympic Games this summer.

A selection of Cycling BC provincial team athletes will be headed to the Canadian National Track Cycling Championships for U17, Junior, and Para cyclists in Milton, Ontario on April 3rd to April 5th, 2020. Cycling BC is hosting preparation camps led by Laura Brown at the Burnaby Velodrome on March 5-6 and March 26-27 for any U17 and U19 riders getting ready for nationals.

Visit the Cycling BC High Performance webpage for more information on development programs and the pathway from Provincial Development to the Canadian/National Team.
