Cycling BC Update on Covid-19

Further to our communication on March 23, in consultation with our national partners and in accordance with current government recommendations, Cycling BC has made the decision to postpone or cancel events on the Cycling BC provincial calendar until June 14, 2020.

We strongly suggest that Cycling BC clubs postpone their events and any in-person activities scheduled up to at least until then. Activities in contravention of BC provincial health authority orders are not covered under Cycling BC’s insurance. Group rides would be considered in contravention of current social distancing orders so if you choose to ride outside, please ride alone or only with members of your household.

Cycling BC will make another assessment of the COVID-19 situation on April 20 and will provide an update to our community once this review happens. We remain optimistic that we will be able to resume activities at some point this year and in the meantime, we are asking for your patience and understanding as this unprecedented situation continues to unfold.

One of the key benefits of your Cycling BC membership is the 24/7 Sport Accident insurance, which has been in place since you purchased your 2020 membership. While we implore you to be careful if you are riding outside, we want to remind you that – as of the date of this writing – this coverage is still in place so long as you abide by provincial health authority orders.

Cycling BC is working to ensure that when we surpass this difficult time, we will be here to support our members while providing oversight for our sport. While the Cycling BC office has been closed to the public for the time being, the staff will be working remotely and will be doing our best to respond to your queries under these conditions.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to monitor the situation and we hope you are all staying healthy, still enjoying time on your bikes, and taking advantage of technology to connect with family and friends.

The Cycling BC community spirit is strong; overcoming challenges is what we do. We will get through this together.
