Documentary Explores Relationship Between Mountain Bikers and Falling

On Falling, a short documentary film recently released online by The New Yorker magazine takes an intimate look at three competitive women mountain bikers and their relationships with falling, both on and off the course. The film explores the theme of ‘falling’, literally and metaphorically, with three accomplished downhill mountain bike riders, AndrĂ©ane Lanthier Nadeau (Squamish), Miranda Miller (Squamish), and Brittany Phelan (Whistler).

Atypical of what you would usually see from a mountain biking video, filmmaker Josephine Anderson slows down the action of a sport known for its blistering speeds and for 13 minutes connects the audience to the heroines of the film in a very personal and enjoyable fashion.
