Sport: More Important Than Ever

Get in the game! Join us and raise your voice for sport in this election.

British Columbians are headed to the polls on October 24.

British Columbia needs strong leadership to navigate these difficult times. We need a government that is guiding us to overcome the short-term challenges while remaining committed to long-term priorities that build community and resilience to ensure we all thrive.

Sport BC knows the power of sport. We know that sport builds belonging, communities, friendships, leaders, healthy kids, connection, and resilience. Sport contributes to the social and economic success of communities throughout British Columbia.

Sport is more important than ever.

Active communities contribute to British Columbians’ physical health, mental health, and wellness—and we know that our inclusive approach to sport grows and nurtures these communities. We invite people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to get involved, to get moving, and to build confidence. Sport also gives us an outlet and permission to play during times of shared anxiety and stress. We are here to help deliver new physical opportunities for a COVID-19 world. We’re not just here for the game—we’re here for social inclusion in a socially-distant time.

Sport benefits everyone.

This is a pan-partisan conversation. We are asking all the parties and candidates where they stand on Sport.

What you can expect:

A friendly, respectful conversation with community builders and leaders.

Sport benefits everyone. We believe this is a pan-partisan conversation. We have invited the BC Liberals, the BC Greens , and the BC NDP to send one candidate representative. The event will feature special guests from various amateur sport groups talking about why sport matters to them and asking questions of the candidates. Sport BC invites our members and supporters from across British Columbia to join in the conversation.
