Cycling BC partners with BC Speed Skating to Launch the 2021 Performance Summit | Registration Opens October 21st

Burnaby, BC, October 21, 2021 – Cycling BC and BC Speed Skating have teamed up to deliver three days of insightful and interactive presentations from leading sport performance experts at the annual Performance Summit (Virtual), November 21 – 23, 2021.

The Performance Summit is designed to inspire excellence in athletes, coaches, and parents from both the cycling and speed skating communities. This year’s summit will include opportunities for development in many shared areas of interest in both sports such as coaching, high performance, nutrition, sport psychology, safe sport, and mental health, among others.

“After pivoting the Performance Summit to a virtual format last year because of the pandemic, we’ve been able to welcome more athletes, parents, and coaches from across the province to take part in the diverse learning opportunities that were once only available to attendees physically present at the event,” says Ben Chaddock, Head of Coach Development at Cycling BC and co-organizer of the summit.

“With three days of speakers covering a wide variety of topics, participants from anywhere will be able to gain access to any one, or all, of the sessions being offered.”

The summit will kick off Day 1 with Scott Donald, a mental performance consultant who works with high-performance teams on mental preparation to be the best in sport and life. Day 2 will include a talk by University of Laval lecturer, Myriam Paquette, on polarized training for endurance sports, and Day 3 will see the return of PhD Candidate in Exercise and Health Psychology, Shereen Harris, who spoke at last year’s summit and will share insights from her ongoing research on mental fitness.

The complete roster of speakers at this year’s summit is still being finalized but is shaping up to deliver some stellar content and speakers.

“BC Speed Skating is thrilled to partner with Cycling BC on this year’s Performance Summit,” adds Chris Acton, Technical Director of BC Speed Skating. “We share a lot in common between our two sports and this summit is going to bring us together to learn not just from our lineup of great speakers but from each other as well.”

Registration for the summit is open now and the first 50 people registered will be entered to win prizes from Cycling BC and BC Speed Skating.
