Updated Dec.7, 2022: Updated price table (changed UCI U17 to U19). Removed Zoom link. Removed “Your membership also helps support Cycling BC’s programs, including: Cycling BC’s HopOn youth programs in schools” – the HopOn program is self-funded.
Updated Dec.5, 2022:  For clarification, the first sentence in the second paragraph below applies to UCI Adult, U23, and Technical licences only.

Cycling BC members,

With support from Cycling BC’s Board of Directors, the organization is putting forward its annual membership licence fees for 2023, subject to members’ approval.

Membership licence fees have remained unchanged since 2019.* The global Covid-19 pandemic brought on unprecedented challenges, including an interruption to business operations, decreased membership revenue and sky-rocketing costs. Over the past three years, Cycling BC benefited from Government-sponsored Covid-19 financial relief programs in order to continue delivering programs and services to its members without having to increase prices. The government relief programs are no longer available, and Cycling BC continues to face new challenges brought on by inflation, and rising insurance costs that have more than doubled since 2019.

In order to continue building and supporting both competitive and recreational cycling in BC, Cycling BC proposes the following membership licence fee structure for 2023.

Your Cycling BC membership includes all of the following items below. For example, a Cycling for All membership, at a cost of less than $10/month, includes:

  • 24/7 Ride Accident insurance covering injuries including paralysis, disfigurement, loss of limbs, internal organs, eyesight, speech or hearing, and medical expenses such as physiotherapy, resulting from a bike accident while riding anywhere in Canada—including both sanctioned and non-sanctioned bike riding activities. This coverage also includes a fracture benefit with a cash payout of up to $5,000, depending on the injury. So whether you’re riding your bike at a race, on a group ride, commuting, or solo on your favourite route—you’re covered.
  • General liability insurance coverage of up to $10,000,000 per occurrence of any Cycling BC member alleged to have caused bodily injury or property damage (to a vehicle, for example) to a third party—during sanctioned Cycling BC races or Cycling BC affiliated club group rides only.
  • Errors and Omissions insurance covering certain lawsuits alleging purely economic damages arising out of the performance of a Cycling BC member—this coverage is most applicable to coaches, team managers, directors, etc.
  • Director’s and Officer’s Liability (Optional for Clubs) covering lawsuits ranging from allegations of wrongful acts, to financial mismanagement, to errors in judgement and negligence—this coverage is most applicable to the board of directors of a club.
  • Member benefits and discounts at participating retailers and community partners.
  • Your membership also helps support Cycling BC’s programs, including:
    • Coach & Officials Education
    • Races and Events
    • High-Performance Athlete Development programs that help young BC athletes track towards the Canadian national team and hopefully represent Canada at international events, including the Olympics.
  • Providing Cycling BC with a stronger voice in its advocating efforts for safer roads, trails, events, and facilities.

Importantly, the youth membership licence fees will be kept low to ensure it remains affordable for families, and an additional 10% family discount will be available to families purchasing licences.

In addition, a limited-time 10% early bird discount will be offered on all membership licences.
