SUMMARY:Burnt Bridge Gravel Classic
DESCRIPTION:The Cowichan Valley Regional District is the host region for one of the most challenging gravel cycling events in BC.  Hundreds of participants will take to the exclusive gravel roads of the Cowichan Valley in the 4th Annual BURNT BRIDGE CLASSIC GRAVEL FONDO.  \nWe are so happy to announce that the 2022 Burnt Bridge Classic Gravel Fondo is now offering 3 distance options: The 35 km Brat\, The 77 km Brute\, and The 117 km Behemoth. \nIn giving you more options\, we allow for riders of various ability levels to now take part\, while also offering an über-challenging route to hard-core adventure riders. \nFor 2022 we will be offering limited RV Camping space and will also have food truck vendors on hand to offer great food service. \n

SUMMARY:Burnt Bridge Gravel Fondo
DESCRIPTION:THE RACE\n\n\nShawnigan Lake\, as part of the Cowichan Valley Regional District\, is the host region for one of the most anticipated mass participation cycling events in BC. On September 28\, hundreds of participants will take to the exclusive gravel roads of Mosaic Forest Management in the 1st Annual BURNT BRIDGE CLASSIC GRAVEL FONDO.  Launching from Camp Pringle\, cycling enthusiasts of various age groups and abilities will tackle over 82km of remote challenging terrain consisting of long steep climbs and twisty descents. Participants will be provided with exceptional service and support and experience breathtaking views. With the addition of lodging options and a complimentary banquet dinner\, the event provides exceptional value and satisfaction. \nRegister as an individual\, Team of 2\, or Team of 4.    \nIncludes special “Vintage Bike” category. \nTeam Category classification will be based on combined times of team riders. \nAll Team members must finish in order to post a time.​ \nVintage Bike Category: Bike must be minimum 25 years old \nWHAT IS GRAVEL FONDO?\nThe event will consist of three feed-zones which will be indicated on the course map. Ride Ambassadors will be joining participants to provide ride service\, mechanical support\, and also assist in emergency response.  \n “Imagine pedaling over jagged marbles\, sand\, or if it rains\, through chunky peanut butter. In some places\, gravel roads are like rutted\, bone-jarring washboards. Think of the worst piece of asphalt you’ve ever ridden.” \n​Gravel Fondo’s are mass participation cycling adventure rides that take place usually on exclusive gravel roads away from city roads and busy highways. It allows people to ride at their own pace\, enjoy nature\, and share their experiences with family and friends. \nAlthough Gravel Fondo’s offer some support\, They emphasize  self reliance and feature few amenities.
