DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, June 23th\, 2018\, for the 6th annual Gibsons Grind Granfondo on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia\, Canada. \nThis cycling event provides scenic routes through the Sunshine Coast with event lengths that will appeal to all riders. All rides start at the Langdale ferry terminal and end at Persephone Brewery Company for a bbq. From there it’s a short downhill ride back to the Langdale ferry terminal. \nStart: The ride starts at the overflow parking lot at the Langdale ferry terminal.  Locals that need to drive to the start can park their cars along Chamberlain Road adjacent to Shirley Macey Park (very close to where the ride finishes) and coast down to the ferry terminal.  See the following link for details:   SSC Gibsons Grind Start \nStart Time:  9:30 am.    Note:  As there will be people coming from the Lower Mainland on the 8:30 ferry there may be a small delay if the ferry is late. \nThe Routes: The Gibsons Grind is a self paced ride that takes place on paved roads. It starts at the Langdale ferry terminal in Gibsons and winds its way to Highway 101. From there the only difference between the various courses is how far they go out the highway.  As such\, you could do your own custom route that is anywhere from 10 km on up.  Once you are on the highway\, you can turn around any time you like. The routes will be marked with color coded arrows for each route length. \nRefreshment Stations:  We will have a refreshment/aid station in Davis Bay at the turnaround point for the 50 km ride as well as on Mason Road near the turnaround for the 70 km route and on Redroofs Road near the turnaround point for the 110 km ride.  You can fill up your water bottles and get a bar. \nRiding on The Coast is difficult: The full route is comparable to the RBC GranFondo Whistler.  There are a lot of hills here\, some quite long and steep.  Make sure you choose the course length which suits your ability before taking on the Gibsons Grind.  The winners of the Gibsons Grind are the people who have the most fun. \nCourse Information\n(Click links for detailed route information)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n110 KM ROUTE \n\n\nAt 110 km\, it has over 1700 meters of climbing (comparable to the RBC GranFondo Whistler)\n\n\n\n\n70 KM ROUTE \n\n\nWhile it’s actually only 21 km longer than the 50 km course\, it’s significantly harder.  That extra 21 km includes 369 meters of extra climbing\,\n\n\n\n\n50 KM ROUTE \n\n\nThe 50 km course is quite moderate.  The turnaround point is at scenic Davis Bay\, where you might just want to stop and dip your feet in the ocean that is so temptingly close\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nFor more information\, go to: http://www.gibsonsgrindgranfondo.com/

SUMMARY:Sunshine Coaster
DESCRIPTION:West Sechelt will be home to the 2017 Coaster.  Start finish will be based out of the old mine compound at the end of Mason Road–signage will be in place to help you find the race. Go through Sechelt\, turn right on Norwest Bay\, turn right on Mason Road\, and continue 200 m after the pavement ends. \nYou will be riding classics trails like  DeWormMe\, which will take you down and around Wormy Lake.  Phareline will take you through the big burn from the summer of 2015\, and is named for the local faller who gave his life fighting that fire.  Frogger will give you a nice switchback climb through a clear cut with an awesome viewpoint at the top. The trails Millipede and Cabin Fever will take you in the Homesite Creek area.  SCC & SCUMB members are constantly improving trails and moving blowdown for you. \nVFR is the last big climb descent before you finish the Sunshine Coaster long course. \nCross-Country Marathon Course\nThe XCM race offers you about 43 kms of Coast riding\, including some logging roads\, some double track\, and lots of single track.  There will be a feed station which you will see twice\, offering the usual water\, juice\, fruit\, and snack bars.  This is 2-wheel-drive accessible for those bringing a support crew along.  The 25 km option gives a good workout to those who aren’t quite ready for the full meal deal. \nCross-Country Short Course\nIf you’re not up for the marathon just yet\, organizers are offering a shorter 25 km course.  You’ll be turned up Frogger at the first feed station and although you’ll miss a lot of logging road\, the infamous Cabin Fever and Millipede\, Escalator and Elevator\, you will still enjoy some serious climbing and wonderful viewpoints. \nThe shorter course is the mandatory race for the U17s and Juniors who are vying for a spot on the BC Provincial Team. \nIt costs the same as the marathon and if you get to the cutoff and change your mind\, just let the marshal know and organizers will fix it at the finish.

SUMMARY:The Sunshine Coaster - XC BC Cup #3
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER\nSaturday\, April 30th 2016 will see your favourite XCM move out to showcase the trails of West Sechelt. The Sunshine Coast Cycling Club will have 45kms of riding planned\, along with the usual 21kms XC shorter course option. A meal and a beer will be included with race entry fee as before. \nOn Sunday May 1\, the club is offering guided XC rides on the Coast just to show more terrain.  These will be by donation with all proceeds going to the local bike club that maintains and builds the trails. \nPlan to spend the whole weekend in Sechelt.  Campsites will be open\, and Up the Creek Hostel has race weekend specials \nCCN Registration\nRegistration will be online through CCN: REGISTER HERE.  Cycling BC licensed riders will be required to register only in the category they are licensed for. A letter from Cycling BC is required if you wish to race in a different category.  Online registration will close on Thursday April 28th at midnight. On site registration will be cash only\, and will only take place if space allows\, play it safe and register online! \nEntry Costs\nThe $75 entry fee  includes your bbq and beer after the race.  There may be extra beer available for cash – it depends on the registration numbers! \nSunday May 1st\nOn Sunday May 1st\, stick around for one of the four guided rides offered on the Coast; Sprockids\, Kinnikinnick\, B&K\, and Wilson Creek.  These are by donation and all proceeds will go to the local clubs who build and maintain our trails.  Rides will be classifieds according to kids\, gravity sucks\, real XC\, and more XC. Join in for a beer after the Sunday rides at Persephone Brewery in Gibsons.  Kids are welcome there too.  There is an outdoor pizza oven which you can smell a mile away! \nOn-Site\nThe club will take your cash on race day but will charge an extra $20 for doing the extra paperwork!  Register online please! \nXC BC Cup Series\n\nThis race is part of the 2016 XC BC Cup Series\, which features six of BC’s top mountain bike races. \nPoints are calculated from the results of each race and then riders are ranked in the series standings. To qualify for a final series standing\, riders must participate in a minimum of three races\, plus the series final on August 12th. Final series standings will be calculated from the best 3 out of the first 5 races\, plus finals. DESCRIPTION:RESULTS\n  \nThe Coaster downhill returns to the infamous Mach Chicken on Sunday May 3rd.  Endless  Biking will be providing shuttle service from 8am to the end of the day Sunday. \nPick up is at the corner of B&K and Branch 1 (near the bottom of Mach Chicken).  Drop off is at Dudes Bypass. \nSelf shuttling is permitted to either Dudes Bypass or Guys Gulch but please be aware that the B&K is a public road and you may encounter logging trucks\, other vehicles\, hikers\, and XCM racers.  You may also be stopped to allow XCM racers to cross the road on Saturday May 2. \nPreruns may be logged from 3-5pm on Saturday May 2\, and from 8-noon on Sunday May 3. \nAwards will take place at the bottom of Mach Chicken about 30 mins after the last racer is down. \nPlease avoid parking in this area as we need the space for Coast TV\, Search  and Rescue\, the B team bbq\, and your awards! \nOur key sponsor\, Norco\, has donated a Rampage 6.1 frame\, which every racer is eligible to win.  We will make the draw at the end of the day on Sunday\, however\, we will ship it if you’re not there.

Please indicate preference on the registration. \nThe BBQ is served from 1.30pm until the last racer comes in. \nYou can also enjoy a cold beer from Townsite Brewery.  This is not included in the entry. \nOn Sunday\, a cash only BBQ will run at the bottom of Mach Chicken\, hosted by the “B Team”. \nApril 26th is the cut off for the BBQ so if you want a great post-race meal make sure to sign up. \n  \nThe Coaster XC Marathon and Short Course online registration.  \n  \n*Event details are subject to change.
