DESCRIPTION:The World Tuesday Night Championships (WTNC) continues a long-standing tradition of weekly hammerfests that stretches back to the 1980s. Points are tallied over the course of 18 weeks of racing and Series Champions will be named at the final race in September. \nWhere\nAlternating between Glenlyon and UBC. See schedule below for details. \nWhen\nTuesday nights (fair-weather only). Keep an eye on the forecast and our Twitter and Facebook for updates. The final decision on questionable days will be made at 3 pm. \nRules: All races are sanctioned by CyclingBC and are governed by the UCI’s regulations regarding road races. For EV-specific race rules\, please refer to the EV Race Bible. \nLicensing\nAll racers must hold one of the following racing licenses: \n\nAny UCI license\nCycling BC provincial license\nUSAC or USCF license (must sign medical waiver)\nSingle-day license (can be purchased at Registration for $10)\n\nNeutralization and Race Control\nIn the event of an incident on course\, marshals will notify racers and display coloured flags at one of several locations. \n\nYellow: race neutralized. All racers must maintain their current position in the peloton and carry on at a neutral pace until the crash is cleared and the injured racer(s) attended to.\nRed: race cancelled.\nGreen: All clear. Incident has been cleared and racing may resume.\n\nBathrooms\nAll racers must use the designated bathrooms at each course. These are clearly labelled on the maps above. Any racer observed violating this rule will face an immediate ban from all remaining 2016 WTNC races. \nRace Groups and Start Times / Duration\n\nAdults race according to the ability category on their UCI license. Reduced points are awarded for races with fewer than 10 participants.\nResults are tallied over 17 races (traditionally\, the final race of the season does not count towards series results).\nPrizes are awarded based on a fixed cash amount per point accumulated.\nA minimum of five (5) points must be accumulated to receive a final prize.\nDisputes of finish placings must be made with the Finish Line Officials before the end of the race. SUMMARY:UBC Grand Prix Criterium p/b Mahony & Sons
DESCRIPTION:Click here for more information on the BC Premier Road Series\n  \nThe UBC Grand Prix the youngest member of BC Superweek and the most technical Criterium of the series that is located in the heart of the University of British Columbia. It is however one of the most excilerating events from a spectators perspective to watch because the riders can be seen almost the entire way around the course. \nThe UBC Grand Prix presented by Mahony & Sons Public House is part of BC Superweek and features a Pro/Am Criterium Race open to male and female cyclists competing for over $10\,000 in prize money. \nAthletes race a 1km circuit and navigate around the course for 40-65 laps. Spectators will be entertained by the athletes sprinting for cash prizes that will be awarded throughout the race making for an exciting afternoon and evening of fun. \nAlong with the professional races\, there is also a Kid’s Race\, complete with bike safety tips and prizes for all who participate\, and a Corporate Challenge. \nThe UBC Grand Prix raises funds for the BC Sports Medicine Research Foundation. \n  \nNEW! BC Youth Superweek\nThe new BC Superweek Youth Series is a partnership between BC Superweek and Global Relay’s Bridge the Gap Fund\, which is coordinating the series. \nIn addition to giving the up and coming racers (boys\, ages 12 – 15\, and girls\, ages 12-16) a chance to compete in seven races over eight days\, BC Superweek Youth Series will also give them a chance to test their bike handling skills at speed over the same iconic courses their heroes will race on later each evening in front of thousands of cheering race fans. \nFor more information on the BC Superweek Youth Series\, click here.
