Get ready for an exhilarating day of cyclocross action as the 2023 BC Provincial Cyclocross Championships are set to take place on Sunday, November 19th at Island 22 Regional Park in Chilliwack, British Columbia.
Hosted by THRASHERS Bike Club, the “How the West Was Won” BC Provincial Cyclocross Championships is your chance to tackle the challenging course at Island 22 and ride into the sunset with a provincial title. Island 22 Regional Park in Chilliwack will be a picturesque venue for the 2023 BC CX Championships. The vast terrain has sprawling acres of grassland, trails through the trees, and landscaped slopes.
“We’re very excited to have 3-time Canadian National Cyclocross Champion and Chilliwack local, Michael van den Ham, as course director for this race,” says THRASHERS Bike Club spokesperson, Tenacious Drew. “MVDH will utilize the open grass fields, forest trails and landscaped bowl to create a fast and challenging course.”
While the park has no elevation and no significant run-up, there will be many challenging features including off-cambers, sand, barriers, steps and mud. The course will have great spots for spectating next to the technical sections and the beer garden.
With categories catering to all ages and skill levels, there will be something for everyone. Championship categories include,
- Elite 19+
- U23
- Junior U19
- Cadet U17
- Youth (U15, U13)
- Masters (35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65+)
Plus non-championships categories for Open Men, Open Women, and Single Gear.
Whether you’re a seasoned rider or it’s your first time in the saddle, this is an opportunity to join in on the fun, camaraderie, and competition that makes cyclocross so special.
