The Terry Fox Foundation has announced that on Saturday, July 9th, Canadians will come together once again across the country to support or participate in the 7th annual Terry Fox Ride of Hope for cancer research. The Terry Fox Ride of Hope represents Terry’s fierce determination and ‘no quit’ attitude.
The Ride of Hope has personal beginnings, as it was started by Terry’s brother, Darrell Fox, to carry on Terry’s legacy in a new way. In commemoration of the 35th Marathon of Hope anniversary, Darrell rode 350 km with a group of friends to Mount Terry Fox and this moment kick-started the idea of a Terry Fox Ride of Hope.
To date, the ride has grown to include at least 8 rides across Canada and has raised over $450,000 in support for cancer research. From the trails of Victoria, BC to the coast of Nova Scotia, riders are welcomed for solo adventures or group rides alike! From its volunteers to participants, the Ride of Hope encourages community and the celebration of resilience and hope.
In 2022, hundreds of Canadians in the Ride of Hope will collectively cycle over 6,500 kilometres to raise money for cancer research. This year’s fundraising goal is $300,000.
