iRide Leadership Camp – Coed (12 spots)
Want to improve your leadership abilities, master advanced biking skills and learn how to teach cycling to various ages? This full-day camp offers a fun, safe, introduction to multi-disciplinary cycling and the opportunity to become a fully-trained NCCP Community Coach. Participants will tackle intermediate and advanced cycling skills in 3 different types of cycling, including Mountain Biking, Velodrome, BMX. Advanced skills required. Participants should be comfortable: riding up a hill for 10 minutes, able to exercise for 90 minutes; lift the front wheel, ride off a jump/bump smoothly and ride blue mountain bike trails or equivalent. Facilitated by Cycling BC’s iRide program.
Rental bikes are available. Bicycle storage is provided by Cycling BC.
All sessions are covered by Cycling BC’s insurance policy with Jones Brown.
Open to ages 14-22*, Level 7-10, coed
*Our 2018 camp was a great beta test and out of the 6 participants, 2 started coaching in the autumn. We also hosted participants from Vancouver Island and the Fraser Valley.
*Participants who commit to teaching / helping at an upcoming after-school program in their neighborhood this autumn will receive additional financial support to attend this camp. Get started by reviewing this document and then emailing iRide@cyclingbc.net. Applicants are reviewed based on their interest in cycling and commitment to their community.
*Participants requiring billets and transportation from BC Ferries to attend this camp, please contact iRide to explore possibilities.
*Participants who live in the Burnaby/Coquitlam area and are able to host a fellow participant, please also reach out to iRide to let us know.
