Who is a “Competition-Introduction” Coach?

A Comp-Intro Coach wants to train and support athletes who are interested in participating in youth club programs or adult recreational clubs that may or may not involve local and provincial competitions or gran fondos. Coaches are focused on building discipline-specific skills & tactics and daily routines that help athletes prepare and complete a goal event or full season.

In relation to the Sport for Life Long-Term Development Model, the Comp-Intro pathway is designed for coaches who wish to support club riders all ages, including:

  • Children new to a P/TSO-registered youth club (U13 Learn to Train)
  • Teens who enjoy and pursue cycling as a primary activity (U17 Train to Train)
  • Recreational and commuting adults (Active for Life)
  • Gran fondo participants and age-group competitors (Competitive For Life)
