Season 2 of the BC Cup Virtual Race Series on the RGT virtual cycling platform got underway on Saturday, February 19th with a race on the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, a 27.8km loop with 319m of climbing. This historic race pits riders not only against each other but alongside a steam-engine train travelling along the route between Durango and Silverton in southwest Colorado.
Riders from all points on the compass came to challenge the train with participants logging in from the Yukon, Vancouver Island, the BC interior, Metro Vancouver, and the United States to vie for valuable BC Cup points and get ahead in the three-part series.
Our BC Cup Virtual Series Season 1 winner, Matt Usborne, continued his dominance into Season 2 with the win in the Cat A group, whilst Wisconsin’s Andy Kroll took the lead in Cat B. Bob Fawcett led all riders in Cat C and BC’s own, Claire Cameron, finished comfortably in first place in the Open Women’s category with nearly a 1-minute gap to the next rider.
