Glenridge Acres sets the stage for the 2021 BC Mountain Bike XCO Provincial Championships

The last Cross-country Mountain Bike Provincial Championships in BC were held in May 2019 and BC has not seen an XC championships race since. This prolonged period will soon come to an end on September 18, 2021, and with a safe return to mass start racing, Cycling BC will finally be able to crown the first MTB Cross-country Provincial Champions in over two years.

The 2021 BC Provincial Cross-country Mountain Bike Championships will be hosted at Glenridge Acres in Abbotsford, a private property located just 45 minutes east of Vancouver. Event organizer, Mike Rauch, has used the property’s trail network to host the “12 Hours of Glenridge” mountain bike race in the past and the adapted “Throwdown Thursdays” time trial races, which became a weekly oasis for many race-starved riders when only time-trial events were permitted during the early days of Covid-19.

The course will be 5.5km long with 90% of single track and 150m of vertical per lap. Check out Mike’s course preview below.

All ages and abilities are invited to register as there will be separate race starts throughout the day and appropriate categories for all.

Registration is $65 per racer, $40 for racers under 17. All riders must have a valid 2021 race licence. Single event licences are only available for the non-championships sport/novice categories.

Registration closes on Thursday, September 16th at 11:59 PM. Register now on CCN.
