BMX Performance Team Nationals Recap

The BMX team traveled to St. Albert, Alberta for the 5th and 6th BMX Canada Cups.  BC athletes swept the Elite men’s podiums both days with Tory Nyhaug taking the win on Saturday with James Palmer and Alex Tougas.  Sunday’s Podium went Palmer, Tougas and Jared Ennis.   Ben Leslie won Jr Men on Saturday and placed 2nd on Sunday.  Ryan Tougas got passed at the finish on Saturday and took the win on sunday in Jr Devo.  Alison Churko placed 2nd on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday in Jr devo female.
After racing Sunday, the team headed down to Calgary for the week leading into National Championships to get some training in on the track in preparation for National Champs.  When the weekend rolled around BC was ready to contend for the National Championship titles.    Again BC swept the Elite men’s podium with Tory Nyhaug winning his 7th straight title, James Palmer and Alex Tougas 2nd and 3rd.  Drew Mechielsen successfully defended her Elite female title.   Alison Grecht placed 2nd in Jr Female.  Ryan Tougas won 15 boys for the second straight year.

On Sunday the Canada cup finals decided the year-end champions.  James Palmer won Elite men, Ryan Tougas won Jr devo, Alison Grecht and Ben Leslie placed 2nd in the Junior classes.
