Cycling BC XCO Team Continues to Develop in Dieppe ahead of Nationals in Nova Scotia

Cycling BC’s High Performance targeted athletes competed at the Canada Cup XCO in Dieppe, NB last weekend, July 13th-16th, and came away with some encouraging results.

Cycling BC Junior (U19) Female Athletes Madeleine Pollock of North Vancouver and Geza Rodgers from Port Moody finished in 8th place and 11th place respectively. Squamish rider Marin Lowe (Stimulus Orbea) podiumed in 3rd place behind Ontario’s Holmgren sisters, Ava (2nd place) and Isabella (1st place). Cycling BC’s Noah Rubuliak of Kelowna finished 14th in the Junior Men’s race while Cam McCallum (Charge BCXC) of Langley finished 16th.

Cycling BC’s U17s also had some impressive performances in Dieppe with Powell River’s Ellie Winchell breaking into the top 10 in the U17 Female race with a 9th place finish. BC Provincial XCO Champion, Ethan Wood from Pemberton, finished 5th place among U17 Men and Squamish rider Kelan Wells came in 15th. Fellow BC rider, Maddox Johnson from Fernie finished in 11th.

In the Elite ranks, BC riders Cody Scott (Comp Edge Racing) finished 8th in Elite Men’s and Peter Disera (Pivot Cycles OTE) came away with a third-place finish. Ella MacPhee (Charge BCXC) was the lone BC Elite Female racer and finished in 14th place.

The Canada Cup XCO & XCC series final will take place in St. Félicien, QC, on August 19th-20th.

The Cycling BC High Performance XCO team will move on to their next and final team project of the season at the 2023 Canadian National Mountain Bike XCO/XCC Championships in Kentville, Nova Scotia this week, July 20th-23rd.
