Cycling BC is investing in the coaches who make our clubs, teams and programs run.
This winter we’re offering coach development grants to help members take their next step on the NCCP pathway, at little or no cost.
Grants available now
- Training to Race (online, delivered by Cycling Canada), November 9,10,12,16,17,19.
This is the key theory module on the way to Club-Certified (GREEN) status. You’ll learn to build an annual training plan, plan team travel and competition, and support athletes in the Learn to Train and Train to Train stages. It runs online over six 2-hour sessions. Grants cover the full $100 registration fee. - Club-Certified portfolio evaluation ($150)
Have you finished your Club-Certified modules but not submitted your portfolio? This grant covers the evaluation fee: the online quiz, portfolio review and debrief call. Completing it earns you NCCP Competition-Introduction Certified status.
Coming in December (dates to be confirmed)
- Basic Cycling Skills and Skills & Tactics Practical: in-person practice-teaching modules toward Club-Assistant status.
- Learning Facilitator training through viaSport: for experienced coaches interested in delivering NCCP courses to other coaches in BC.
If you’re interested in either of these, apply now and tick them on the form. We’ll contact you as soon as dates are confirmed.
Why this matters
Under Cycling BC’s SafeSport & Coach Excellence Policy, every youth club and team needs at least one Club-Certified (GREEN) or Performance-Certified (BLUE) coach. Every practice also needs a Club-Assistant (YELLOW) coach or above leading it. These grants are aimed at helping clubs meet that standard and building a deeper bench of qualified coaches across the province.
Who can apply
- Current Cycling BC members
- Coaching, or planning to coach, with a BC club, team or program
