Cycling BC Members,
Over the past several months, our Board and staff have been working closely with SportLaw (with funding and support from viaSPORT) to conduct a comprehensive governance review of our organization. This important work ensures our governance practices align with the evolving needs of our members, reflect best practices across the sector and ensure we remain eligible for different grants and funding opportunities.
As a result of this review and the recommendations provided by SportLaw, we are proposing a series of updates to our Bylaws that we will bring forward for your vote at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). Most of the proposed changes are minor, such as inclusive language updates and terminology corrections, but a few are more substantive and strategic in nature, especially those related to how membership dues are set and how the Board is composed and operates.

Updated June 17, 2025:
Please note: A vote on the proposed 2025 Bylaws will take place electronically after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) using the CCN membership platform. Voting will be open from June 16 to June 22, 2025. This process is similar to the one used for electing the Board of Directors, as it allows for greater member participation and provides an extended time frame for casting votes. There will be 6 separate bylaw motions put forward to the membership regarding the following bylaws.
- Minor Housekeeping updates found throughout the document
- Membership Dues Section 2.02
- Board Composition and Governance Sections 4.01, 4.04, 4.06, 4.08, 4.09
- Conflict of Interest Section 7.12
- Amending the Bylaws Section 8.01
- **NEW** Update to remove in-person general meetings
** Based on feedback from the Bylaw Information Session on Monday, June 9th, we have added another motion to the bylaws change (Motion 6), which would strike the language requiring that General Meetings sometimes be held outside the GVRD from Section 3.01a.
Note that each of these motions will be a Special Resolution, so each individual motion will require a ⅔ majority for that individual motion to pass.
