BC DH Provincial Championships

Some of BC’s best DH racers took to the slopes of Kicking Horse Mountain in Golden BC for the BC DH Championships on July 27th. With near perfect weather conditions and one of the most challenging courses in the province, riders and spectators alike were treated to a very special weekend of racing.

Saturday was the day for timed seating runs, a toonie race and a long jump completion. The voice of B.C. cycling legend Brett Tippie announcing the events gave the weekend of racing that festival atmosphere. Hats off to race organizer Stephen Exley for his great work in creating these DH events.

Sunday was race day and we saw fast, competitive racing down the steep, technical course. Once the dust had settled, Dean Tennant, Dunbar Cycles stopped the clock in 3:45:82 to take our BC Championship Elite Men’s title while Danice Uyesugi, Intense National Team took the Elite Women’s title in 4:49:48.

In a strong field of Junior Expert Men, it was Magnus Manson, Dunbar Cycles, who took the championship win with Kyleigh Stewart, AFD Racing taking the Junior Women’s title. Our Master 40+ BC Championship went to Colin Yarrow, who will be proudly wearing his BC Championship jersey at the World Master DH championships to be held in Norway in August.

Cycling BC would like to the thank Stephen Exely of SE Racing, and all the event staff, volunteers and racers for a great weekend of racing. We would also like to show our appreciation to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and the town of Golden B.C. for hosting this event.
