Event Information

Team Escape Velocity p/b Catalyst Kinetics is pleased to present CastleCross, returning to Port Coquitlam’s Castle Park, located just minutes from Vancouver. Escape Velocity is thrilled to once again partner with the City of Port Coquitlam and are hugely grateful for their excellent support of active use of their community parklands.

EV’s mischievous course designer Tobin Copley has put together a fast, flowy course with technical grass field riding, deceptively difficult elevation changes, rewarding/frustrating pacing variations, and corners to challenge all racers—including a fast sweeping 270º constantly off-camber corner. And three (yes, THREE!) run-ups, each with differently technical approaches. It’s the Triple Crown of cyclocross!

This venue has lots of terrain, and Castle Cross will be taking advantage of it. Expect a classic and demanding cyclocross experience, one you’ll never believe could be found in an exurban park.

An entirely separate 250 m mini-course will be available, where members of our DEVO youth development team will be giving training clinics for kids and adults alike. So bring your friends! Bring your kids! Bring your friends’ kids!

Escape Velocity cannot comment on rumours that an awfully cute and very friendly donkey may be in attendance to cheer on racers and provide kids and adults alike with donkey-patting opportunities. Rumors of a foam machine are ridiculous and implausible. Rumors that it may snow that day are fever dreams of imaginations run wild.

Once again, there will be mouth-watering food available on site (including cycloross-correct Belgian waffles) from the amazing Patisserie LeBeau food truck! Bring friends and family, a camera and cowbells, and your best heckles and items for hand-ups to this spectator-friendly event!

Registration closes 30 minutes before each race.

*In compliance with UCI cyclocross rules, age-based categories will be based on racer age as of Dec 31, 2016 (sixteen). This includes Masters categories which are defined as age 40+ as of end of 2016 (i.e., birth years 1976 and earlier).
