Event Information

Taking place on Saturday June 11, 2016 in the gorgeous Nicola Valley near Merritt, the race will feature a 16 km or 32 km cross-country bike race.

The race is now one or two 16 km loops showcasing Merritt’s best terrain with the fastest and most flowing single track that you can imagine, with a total elevation gain of 676 meters. All levels of riders from beginner to elite are encouraged to race. Elite racers, this will be the fastest and most fun 32 kms that you’ll race all summer. Beginner Racers, this will be the perfect entry to the world and adventure of mountain bike racing. Why not sign up the whole family?

YES you may camp at the race site. It’s crown land and organizers ask that you keep the area clean and take your garbage out with you.

The Cow Trail Classic will be an instant “must do” on the mountain biking circuits throughout BC.

This year there will be $1000 of crash prizes plus giveaways.

Directions

In Merritt, at the junction Voght St. and Nicola Ave. (use the 7-eleven as a landmark), go south on Voght St , cross the bridge over Coldwater River. Turn left onto Mid Day Valley Road, which will turn into gravel at some point. You’ll pass two cattle guards, and about 300m after the second one, you’ll come to the meadows, where you park and see the race setup. You are there.

Kids Race

A 4 km race is available for kids between 7 and 13!

  • Entry fee: $25 per racer (online)
  • Ages: 2 categories either girls’ or boys’ ages 7-12
  • Parent escorts: parents can ride behind the group, in order to escort the child through the race (if needed, but not required).
  • Awards: everyone will get something; top 3 get medals,

Courses will be double track climb in the open grasslands with a smooth single track trail with a moderate decline through the forest.
Medals, race numbers and prizes will be on hand so that every kid is sure to go home with something.

Registration Fees

Fees include; insurance, accurate computerized timing, EMT support, aid stations with refreshments, catered gourmet lunch, grab bag- and a whole mess of porta-potties, garbage cans and recycling receptacles.. All net proceeds go to the Merritt Mountain Bike Association to support local trail building and maintenance activities as well as trail advocacy work. The Merritt Mountain Bike Association is a registered not for profit organization.
