Ride with Chris Froome and help stop cancer at the first cell

This event is raising money for the work of Dr. Azra Raza—she started the First Cell Center for research as she is trying to find a way to detect the first cell that becomes cancerous. She wrote the book, The First Cell and which was a top 100 Amazon editors’ pick and top 10 science book of 2019 by Smithsonian Magazine.

Chris Froome will be there for the ride and ‘encore’ event at Camp Howdy where we will charter riders from Rocky Point Park (finish line).

The owner of the company that is hosting this event, is a sponsor of pro-cycling team Israel Premier-Tech, of which Chris Froome is a member. The company is called Chit Chats. It’s a Canadian eCommerce shipping company. The logo is on the front left abdomen of the IPT jerseys.

More about Azra and her research

  • The event is raising money for a trailblazing oncologist and researcher named Dr. Azra Raza out of Columbia University in NY. Her breakthrough research has figured out how to detect early cancerous behavior in the first few blood cells of pre-leukemia patients.
  • The money raised will go towards helping her develop an antibody to recognize the first cell that becomes cancerous (known as a giant cell) and then partner with another researcher, Michael Levin from Tufts University to develop a non-toxic method to kill this first cancer cell.
  • Her paper is available here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12032-023-02064-z
