Welcome to the Forbidden Gravel Experience! We respectfully acknowledge that the Forbidden Gravel Experience will take place on the unceded traditional territory of the Puntledge, Iekson, Sathloot, Komox and Sasitla​ First Nation. This event is a true gravel cycling experience sampling some of the most scenic roads in the Comox Valley. In the spirit of gravel adventure rides, our route takes riders through double track and some flowing singletrack in the forests of Cumberland, home to some of the best trails in BC.

 

Rider Experience: Regardless of which distance you enter, all FGE participants will get the following:

  • Timed event using timing chip technology
  • Fully Stocked aid station
  • Neutral mechanical support
  • Opportunity for swag and giveaway prizes
  • Prizing for top 3 Men and Women in each category and youth in the Piccolo distance
  • Post-race beverages and snacks
  • The stoke of hanging out with like-minded people for a gravel adventure ride
  • Being in Cumberland BC, one of the most popular cycling destinations in BC

 

We’ve designed 3 routes for 2022 to be as inclusive as possible as we believe that gravel cycling can be enjoyed by all

Epic Distance – This route is for you if you like adventure and long days in the saddle. At approximately 106km and 2400 metres of elevation gain, the Epic route is sure to be memorable. This route is a solid mix of gravel roads, doubletrack and singletrack with a river crossing thrown in for good measure.  To sign up for this route you must be a minimum of 18 years of age on the day of the event.

Medio Distance – This route is for you if you’re an intermediate rider and like a challenge. At approximately 60km and 1400 metres of elevation gain with 100% of the route on gravel or single track you’ll be proud at the finish line of ticking this one off the list.

Piccolo Distance – This route is for you if you’re new to cycling and want an introduction to the world of gravel riding. At approximately 40km and 900 metres of elevation gain with 100% of the route on gravel roads and doubletrack. It is recommended that children under the age of 16 be accompanied by a parent or guardian to ride the Piccolo distance.
