Dear CX community,It is hard for organizers to write this, however, given the extraordinary amount of rain we’ve had this September we have made the difficult decision to cancel Vanier Park CX for 2019. This is not how we wanted our 20th anniversary year to go. We are deeply sorry to the entire CX community, our volunteers, our sponsors and supporters who have stood with us in the past. We understand that you’ve planned your weekend and committed and now we aren’t able to be there for you.We are as crushed as you. This decision was not taken lightly and was made in consultation with our contacts at the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation. We realized over the past few weeks that in order to have access to this amazing venue in the future it is important to be responsible and know when to listen to nature. We also wanted to hold off on making this decision in hopes that sunnier weather would appear and help the park dry out. Sadly, the rain just keeps coming. Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has been a great partner and allowed us use of Vanier every year for the past 19 years. We are so sorry to have to tell you this as we had been really looking forward to seeing you in the park this weekend.Thank you for your amazing support over the years. If you’re wondering what you can do to help we would suggest coming out to race, volunteer and help make sure we all other Cyclocross races are supported this year. Those of you who pre-registered will be getting full refunds through CCN.Sincerely,West Coast Cycling
