Outcome goals for this training camp:

  • To provide targeted athletes with closed course training, coaching and timed feedback on 1199 and/or a suitable alternative
    • Athletes are welcome to utilize this time to work individually or with teams for real-world testing within these sessions
  • To provide (non-targeted) grassroots athletes with closed course training, coaching, and timed feedback on Whistler Bike Park trails suitable for their developmental needs
  • To develop a mentorship model whereby more experienced racers can build connections with grassroots athletes
  • To develop a more sustainable downhill community where athletes, coaches, and clubs across the province can collaborate more effectively

Who is this camp for? U19 and Elite gravity racers (current Cycling BC targeted athletes) & U15/U17 grassroots racers (not yet targeted by Cycling BC)

1. High Performance U19 and Elite gravity racers (current Cycling BC targeted athletes)

  • Cost: FREE (provided that you commit to afternoon mentorship throughout the week), or $80+GST per day (no mentorship requirement)
  • Bike Park Pass NOT INCLUDED
  • Maximum 20 athletes

Elite athletes will be offered closed-course training and testing on the recently completed 1199 track in Creekside. This training opportunity will allow racers to make final preparations for National Championships and subsequent World Cup events. Team mechanics are also welcome to join, in the event that athletes wish to complete in-depth testing.

In exchange for this training opportunity, elite athletes will be required to donate their time to U15 riders for our introductory afternoon clinics. The expectation is that these elite racers will spend the afternoon sharing their experience, some simple race preparation strategies, and most importantly build relationships with others in the cycling community.

Athletes who wish to take advantage of the training time, and who can also commit to afternoon mentorship are welcome to reach out to Joel Harwood (joel@cyclingbc.net) for a passcode for registration.

Athletes who wish to take advantage of training time, but who are unable to provide mentorship will be charged a fee of $80 per day.
