BC Cup Virtual Series | Race #2 Canary Wharf Recap & Results

Race number two of the 2022 BC Cup Virtual Race Series returned to London’s Canary Wharf financial district for a fast and flat criterium race on the RGT virtual cycling platform. The one-kilometre circuit with four corners in which the RGT in-game physics slows riders down upon entry also presents ample opportunities for riders to surge and launch an attack upon exit.

The first race of the day involved the Cat C riders who were tasked with 30 laps of the course. Matthew Moore and Shane Alfreds duked it out from about 300m out with Moore ultimately taking the win over Alfreds and Lee Zavarise coming in 3rd place. Cat B riders rode 36 laps and Andy Kroll took the win in the category for the second week in a row beating Bart Gould in 2nd and Joshua Smith in 3rd.

Claire Cameron rode brilliantly to another win in the Open Women’s category with an attacking sprint over Renate Bluschke and Debra Parker in the final moments of the race. Cameron rode an average of 3.16 W/Kg throughout the race, the lowest among the entire field, and came away with the win.

Matt Usborne continued his dominant winning streak in the Cat A group with another convincing win, one minute ahead of Cole Patterson in 2nd place and Taylor McColl in 3rd. Usborne rode a punishing average of 4.75 W/kg through 44 laps of the course.

There is only one race left in the series and it will be a special one using RGT’s unique ‘magic roads’ feature where RGT can convert any real-life route into an immersive virtual course. Join us on Sunday, March 6, 2022, for the BC Cup Virtual Series Final where riders will ride 65km from Vancouver’s Stanley Park along Marine Drive to Horseshoe Bay, along the breathtaking Sea to Sky Highway and up to the outdoor recreation capital of Canada, Squamish, BC.

Congratulations to all the participants and thank you to everyone who tuned in to the broadcast of the races which was livestreamed on our Facebook page and Youtube channels. We have linked to the full broadcast of Race #2 below for your viewing pleasure.
